xfire - does it work?

has anyone managed to get a mplayer game going with xfire? on my machine it finds the game but doesn't list any servers at all. as a test i tried running with no firewalls, software or hardware but didn't have any luck..

this week is the first time i've tried going online and playing via gamespy...what a disappointment. if you actually manage to get a game going civ is going to crash sooner or later..very poor experience.

I use xfire to chat to people I know who are playing in game - it works very well for that. Also in terms of setting up a game but not to find a game fresh.
