XML and multiplayer?

So lets say I edit my XML to make King and Prince a little closer together. I mod King to remove free tech, remove warrior, and narrow some of the IA bonus. If I then host a multiplayer game with my friend over the internet will that work? Or do we both need the same XML?
 
You'd likely need both to have the same XML, I never tried but I would assume the game would detect a version mismatch.
 
We played a game already with a different DAL file. I used the better ai dll and it worked, she had original. But I'm not sure if the game itself used my dll rules. I imagine it probably does but can't think of a way to verify.
 
you'll get multiple desync I suppose (causing the game to reload at the end of the turn)
