Dude, Yeltsin did not shoot at the parliament, and he did not crush the USSR.
When the hardline communist army faction overthrew Gorbachev, Yeltsin stood up to the tanks and told them to sod off.
I think I know history of my country better than you. You are talking about developmentshich was in 1991. And I'm talking about developments which was in 1993
In 1993 Yeltsin anti-constitutionally dissolved parliament and demand from deputats to leave parliament's building. Parliament declined to do so and declared impeachment to president.
And for that Yeltsin ordered some tanks to shoot the parliament's building.
I never thought very highly of Yeltsin. He allowed the gangsters to buy off the assets of the Russian people dirt cheap; he and his European and US advisers. People like Berezovsky who are even now plotting a new revolution from London:
The Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky has told the Guardian he is plotting the violent overthrow of President Putin from his base in Britain after forging close contacts with members of Russia's ruling elite.
People tend to say that Communism failed, hence it's collapse, but in a way it collapsed in Russia because these huge state-owned companies were so tempting that many highly-placed people wanted to grab some of the booty.
I can't believe that no one's minded to shoot down my hypothesis that 'communism' (the USSR version) failed because it was successful (at least in terms of building up extremely valuable assets) and not because it 'failed'.
