Although I'll admit phpBB is very good, it is just not customizable enough to meet the full potential of CFC. Actually, I am just wondering what hacks TF plans on installing in the future for vB, just thinking about it is killing me.

uhhh...how is phpBB not customizable enough?? As I said before, if it's load that's being worried about then phpBB will do just as wel as vBull since it's the db which has the limits (around 4 294 967 295 entries for id IIRC (yes I have memorised that number. I know my life is sad))...I have to say that phpBB's themes are much better than vBull's, as anyone who isn't blind would say...if you're looking for mods (they're not called hacks!) then phpBB has a decent mods community and you could even code your own for simple stuff

Actually, I did once install a full version of phpBB to see how it looked and how the admin features were and stuff and It really isn't as customizable as VB, of course if you have a little knowledge of VB you can edit the code and you can always move everything around in all sorts of positions. I don't worry about load though... And I don't like phpBBs themes as much as this one: CFC's

well hey, styles and how something looks is an opinion thing. But what about develoment, hey?? is there even such a thing as vB CVS?? I doubt it. A RC version?? An alpha release?? Nuh uh. phpBB is much more in development and will get all the features a lot sooner than vB progresses.

but the worst thing about vB is those licenses and payments etc. Jelsoft are so limiting and evil about their license agreements. I had a look at vB's site once and I think I saw a page offerning installation for something like $150. $150?!?! that is truly the most absurd thing I have ever heard. How hard can it be?! Obviously not harder harder than phpBB since of course vB is better than phpBB on all fronts and phpBB2's installation is the easiest thing I have ever done. Ever. How the hell can you charge $150 for something which anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together could do for free?! You have to pay for everything with that damn vBull and you're still impeded with Jelsoft's crappy licences and Terms and Conditions.

If you can do it yourself then you don't have to worry about the cost of installation! So the $150 arguement holds no water. Man, I don't even care for either vB over phpBB or vice versa but I can;t let you get away with false logic!!
