Your favorite unit?

My favorite unit overall is a Praetorian. It's hard to argue against a cheap Macemen with no melee bonus at Iron Working. On top of being completely and utterly dominant before Feudalism, they are not obsolete until Rifling!!

My favorite non-UU unit is a War Elephant. Need Ivory (means not always available) and can be cost-effectively countered by Spearmen in theory. In practice, you build a Barracks and a Stable and give your boys CI/Shock. Amazing thing is Construction also unlocks Cats - watch enemy empires crumble before your eyes. War Elephants are also usable until Rifling especially as anti-mounted against Knights/Cuirassiers which still retaining some offensive ability.

I love Immortals, but my all time favorite is the CRII Catapult!

For a UU, Redcoat. They are unstoppable coupled with cannons. Your cities will be nigh impenetrable, and enemy cities are yours for the taking until they have infantry. Even grenadiers don't pose them too much of a threat, and they eat curassiers and hold well against cavalry.

Also, love Bombers. Couple them with tanks and keep your seige units at home to soften your enemy from afar. Great for blitz warfare against a pre-flight civ.

Gotta nod to Vultures and Immortals too.

i also used to love bombers before 3.17 where everything now seems to have anti air attack.

Infantry. If you get them before the AI does, they truly unstoppable. I wish there would be infantry UU, but I guess that would be pretty much overpowered.
