Not including the bug fixes (which I think everybody wants fixed so there is no point in mentioning them).

Me.

1: Stop certain civs *always* getting certain religeons somehow (pain in the ass).
2: Civilopedia links would go a long way.

Yeah, besides the obvious ATI and graphics scalability issues, I think what I want to see most is a complete reworking of the Civilopedia. I like the idea of web-page layouts with links to anything relevant from that page. The icon system is driving me nuts. Particularly on the buildings page, where buildings, nat'l wonders and wonders are all crammed together, in alpha order, but in alpha order that stars over for each individual type. Why not just have 3 sections (for instance)?

Also, I'd like to see the tech tree reworked so that you can see the "either this or that" options. That would go a long way toward helpign with planning.

  • better game speed (tech comes way too quickly, armies obsolete before you get to use them)
  • a better visualization for the tech tree (lines are much better than icons in the top right corner)
  • earlier cannons (you get them, then one tech later you get artillery?)
  • a better answer than suicide artillery (weak concept in my opinion :p)
  • Add Civilopedia links everywhere, bring back right-clicking for immediate access to the Civilopedia, and make it easier to use overall (icons suck)
  • Allow us to bring up the handy "what do you want to build/research next?" menu (with text and turns-to-completion) whenever we want, not just when something finishes
  • BETTER ADVISORS! Seriously, Civ3 advisor screens were so much more useful. One of the completed modpacks has a city screen advisor that looks 100x better and the game has only been out a week or so.
  • Make trade deals list the number of turns they have left before they can be canceled

Oh yea, how about an option to place a "dotmap" directly on the map? That would save alot of time and make planning easier. :goodjob:

It's a minor request but if they are going to make the interface RTS sytle then I'd like to be able to select my nations color. Blue and white don't really show up to well.

It has to be Civilopedia reworking: the icon system is a pain in the arse to handle. A hyperlinking-style (a la Wikipedia) would be a gem to see.

they need to work on the tech speed and production speed. currently, it is quite broken.

* Palace upgrades like in civ3.
* Zone of control was quite cool in civ3.
* This new way of bombarding isn't really funny. I prefered to choose my targets; and attacking units by mean of bombardement and not having them go into "close battle".
* I also really liked the cruise missiles to fire at enemy ships.

I do think the rate of technology development revelative to production speed is imbalanced. Often I've researched up to Axemen/Spearmen by the time I've produced my first warrior and then by the time I can build a Spearman I've moved way past him in the tech tree.

The fluid nature of the tech-tree is problematic as well - it requires a great deal of practice to become fluent with it because the lines don't correspond to required techs. Again, this is a fault of the icon system.

Also, leaderheads in the Foreign Advisor screen are very low quality indeed which is unacceptable.

Civilopedia overhaul and ability to use scenarios as a 'custom game.' civ3 had this ability and i think there is quite a few of us who would rather play on a predefined map instead of always on random.

Signed.
Except for the number of turns remaining is already shown in the Active trades menu.

Strategical borders instead of cultural borders. But since it is an obvious design choice and would be extremly difficult to patch... It will just allways be something I want but never will get...

let us access the civilopedia (even tho i don't like it much it is helpful for seeing what's farther down the tree) when we have to make choices about what to research and not only after we've picked.

and i'd love a city summary screen that shows how many turns are left in what each city is building. on this one yeah we can hover over each thing but i really like being able to see at a glance how many cities would be done with their stuff in 1 turn so i knew how soon i could start more troops or something.

Frankly, I want to be able to shut off the 3 opening movies. I know I can 'scape out of them but I'd rather be able to just shut them off.

:D

One more thing, bring back the completely random map feature from Civ3 (so, just like the random tilted-axis map, but without the tilted axis map :D).
