YouTube and Thailand are both being pretty thick-skulled.
YouTube removes hundreds of pornographic videos every day, presumably because they want to be viewed as a mainstream company and don't want millions of American parents to ban their kids from using YouTube because it contains offensive material. Why not take down a video that is offensive to millions of Thais and keep their business too. Are they going to lose any American web surfers for taking down a video about the King of Thailand?
The Thai government is fighting a losing cause here. Even if they ban YouTube, there are millions of other websites that offensive material could be hosted. There are already dozens of YouTube-like sites. If they wanted to really block Thais from seeing offensive material on the web, they'd have to ban the entire web.
