A special event in which hordes upon hordes of zombies appear on a civ's borders to attack as a very powerful barbarian army.
If one civ falls, it will turn into a Zombie/Undead civ and the player can take over from there and have at his disposal a plethora of new zombie-stylized units and ultimately a new zombie-stylized civ, complete with slimy terrain and haunted cities!
And, much like the MesoAmerica mod, a Zombie unit from one civ, when faced with the regular unit of another civ can only really capture the unit and turn it into a Zombie if it already isn't one but completely destroy it if it is already a Zombie.

How do you like it?:D

A special event in which hordes upon hordes of communists appear on a civ's borders to attack as a very powerful barbarian army.
If one civ falls, it will turn into a communist/Socialist civ and the player can take over from there and have at his disposal a plethora of new communist-stylized units and ultimately a new communist-stylized civ, complete with slimy terrain and concrete city blocks!

That was going through my mind while reading the OP.

YES!!!!

PLEASE include that as an optional random event!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

Consider this, according to a recent AP Report, more Americans are preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse than are preparing for retirement.

Up until now I have been on the fence about purchasing Civ 5. I have Civs 1 - 4 and with everything that has been REMOVED from Civ 5 I haven't really been that excited about it. Oh yay new graphics...oh and you removed all the bland religions...yay.

WHAT?! You added optional ZOMBIE attack?! And while you were at it Terrorism?! And Volcanoes and Earthquakes too! :nuke::goodjob:

If you don't add in the Zombies, for the sake of your companies Profit margin, at LEAST make it EASY to download friggin mods. I practically had to become Microsoft Certified JUST to get a FEW of them working and I never did get some of the more difficult ones working.

I've been playing Civ my entire life from the time the first one came out. I've played ALL of Sid Meir's games and I'm telling you Zombies are a hot selling point right now.

PLUS, Zombies would get you spreads in all the Gamer Mags...if you do it well.

For your reference, in case you need to know more about Zombies:

Didn't they already try to add zombies in Afterworld? And didn't it suck?

Maybe I'm being too biased. It would be cool, but then again, zombies are the ultimate cliche in video games, and it would make look like they're running out of ideas.

It didn't work in Afterworld because Afterworld would be better as an FPS (First Person Shooter, not a TBS (Turn Based Strategy).

I have an idea to add onto that.

When your city gets nuked theres like a 15 percent chance or something that the remaining units in the city become Zombies, and then the zombies start on a rampage and whenever they kill a unit it turns into a zombie unit, thus creating a world issue that means they world must band together to fight or ultimately be annhilated :D

And they would also carry a really toned-done version of the plague, like in RFC and Mesoamerica, that lightly damaged living guys and turned the weakest unit in a city it spread to into a zombie.

I think this is a brilliant idea and would love to try it. In fact, I'm slightly surprised it hasn't be done already. Why isn't there a random event in which zombies or skeleton armies attack you if you explore the wrong ruins or something. It'd certainly have to be a game option but that would rule.

I love this idea, the only problem is that I want to PLAY the Zombie civilization. If I nuke my own city can I do that? Or how about if I dip all of my citizens into Radioactive waste? Or will that just give them cancer?

Opensource is where it's at though. Give Civ Fans the tools and the ability to Mod/Download/Upload Civ and we'll create scenarios that will even have the Great Sid going "Wow, I'd really like to play through that a few times just to see what's it's like!"

i wouldn't mind the zombie apocalypse, but fallen civilization turning into zombies is kind of lame. maybe nuked cities/cities attack with biological weapons (if they're in) have a chance of spawning barbarian zombies or something. that and the random/ruins. but the beaten civs becoming zombies, no.

Sure, why not. Retirement is inevitable, but a Zombie Apocalypse... that would be something.
