Hi All!

I have given up. Too many threads about something else... Maybe I haven't looked enough but at some point you just come to believe that you have spent too much time looking. If this is old stuff for you I have to apologize - it is not old stuff for me My questions are:

Is there only two zoomlevels (Push Z for In or Out)?
If there are more levels. How can I activate them?

Thank you for your understanding

/Beat

From what I know, there are just the two. However, if you want to run at a higher resolution (and thus see more at the normal zoom level), add the following two lines to your civ.ini (or ptw.ini / conquests.ini):

KeepRes=1
Video Mode=1600

Change the Video Mode= setting to what you want your resolution to be:
1600 = 1600x1200
1280 = 1280x1024
1024 = 1024x768
etc...

Ha ha I never even knew there were zoom levels. Maybe I should try reading the manual.

I don't think the manual mentions it IIRC. You just find out when you hit Z instead of S or whatever.

Didnt even know you could change resolutions, myself.

Upping the resolution was one of the first things I learned how to do when I got civ3. I couldn't stand the 640x480 default, so once I found out how to play at 1600x1200, I haven't gone back. The one drawback is that the advisor windows are all harddcoded to be 640x480, so you get a small window in a sea of black. It'd be nice if the advisor windows were full screen no matter the resolution. I'd love to be able to see my entire city list at once :D

:lol:

Yet another feature that was standard in SMAC - zoom!

I think I'll try the 1600 setting.

It looks like 640x480. I always run at 1600x1200 or 1920x1440 on my desktop, so a resolution that low might as well be 640x480.
It might *look* like 640x480 to you, but I guarantee the minimum resolution is 1024x768. ;)

It is annoying when you play at higher resolutions, the non-map screens are all absolute 1024 res and dont change as the playfield does. very frustrating.
