Zooming in and out of map

I haven't played C3C in awhile, but I was wondering how you zoom in and out. I forget how to do this, I thought you could. Am I mistaken?
I'm talking about in the main screen where you see all of your cities. I thought I remembered being able to zoom out to see the entire world. Maybe it was only in previous civs.

press z. once to zoom out, once more to zoom back in.

Whole world? Not in Civ3. You can press "z" to zoom out and then back in. Just one level of zoom. Hard to do much zoomed out, other than look around and maybe take some pretty pictures....

Yeah, I like to step back a bit and look at my entire kingdom. Maybe find some choke points on the map or safe harbors or whatnot. I always zoom back in when makeing moves.

I like to do the same thing, it looks very from airship view .

I'll sometimes deploy bombers from the zoomed-out screen, if their target is a square that's far enough that the computer would have to redraw the screen on the zoomed-in screen.

That is the best use for zoom, I agree. You have to be careful not to miss your target though as it is easier to select wrong tile if you are rushing through the attacks.
