I know Shaka is the most iconic african leader of Civilization series, but maybe we can change he for one of options below:
1-Mnguni, the first one to lead the Nguni tribe, the tribe who will become Zulu in the future
2- Zulu kaMalandela, the leader who gave the name Zulu for the nation
3-Senzangakhona, the father of Shaka Zulu.
4-Dingane, he kills Shaka Zulu and become king of Zulu Empire.
5- Cetshwayo, the last king od the independent Zulu Empire
6- Solomon kaDinuzulu, he is a king under UK occupation of Zulu empire, is good to us remeber the Zulu kingdom still a thing today.
There are other options, but I choice just a few to be an alternative leader of Zulus
