Zwi1 - Low Pressure Deity

Preturn -> reviewed situaiton; IBT -> lost incense deal w/ India (renewed silks to INdia for wm, 17 gpt, & 210 gold).

1255 AD - Two workers trapped on peninsual (Albuquerque); unit & infrastructure production.

1260 AD - Researched Combustion, set to Mass Production; Sprignfield settled in former Iroquois lands to secure ivory resource; unit & infrastructure production.

1265 AD - NO b galleon to pick up aforementioned workers; unit & infrastructure production.

1270 AD - unit & infrastructure production; IBT -> France declares war on India.

1275 AD - unit & infrastructure production; IBT -> Lose dye deal w/ France (trade gems to France for wm, 39 gpt, & 80 gold).

1280 AD - Researched Mass Production, set to Motorized Transportation; unit & infrastructure production; trade Steel to India for incense, wm, 181gpt, & 200 gold; Palo Alto settled.

1285 AD - unit & infrastructure production.

1290 AD - unit & infrastructure production.

1295 AD - Rushed settler in Tacoma; unit & infrastructure production.

1300 AD - Researched Motorized Transportation, set to Flight; Tacoma b settler (heads west w/ infantry escort toward Oka); unit & infrastructure production.

Observations: Still w/ out oil resource, France has two and India has one that is unconnected; Franco-Indian War appears to be a stalemate (Would like to have an extra rubber to trade to India. Gandhi has one, but it is unconnected); Best chance to secure oil ear Oka lost when India captured Oka from France, now cannot build on the tile next to oil (two away) - still worth a try (rush culture improvements); Two possible deals for oil from France presented in pics.

File Save.

France is currently in Anarchy and has probably exhausted its offensive troops attacking India. The French have connected rubber on one of their island holdings, but they are also bankrupt and may not have upgraded many riflemen to infantry yet. Now is a good time to attack.

In order to start the war, we can make demands on France until they are at least "Annoyed", then demand that they remove troops from our territory. (Since we are not currently paying them gpt for a lump sum item, I don't consider this a major exploit). If they comply and remove the troops, try planting a spy and failing a mission (ie "expose enemy spy"). There are a few French cities in artillery range from our territory which should fall on the first turn of war, and by turn 2 or 3 we can secure oil at the French city of Rouin.

Got it, played the first two turns last night, and France already declared war on us. :D

Please skip me for this round. RL turned an ugly (very expensive) head.

Pre-turn I looked at the game and did the following:
Enforce garrison in border cities. Micromanage a couple of cities. Hurry temple in Las Vegas, hurry harbor in Albuquerque.

Next goal is to annoy the French: stop selling them spice and ivory. Ask them to leave, they comply. Try spy placement and fail. Hit return.

IBT renew wines from France for silks, 29gpt.

1305 ask France to leave, they comply. Try spy placement, fail, and they declare war. :D.
Capture New Chartres, New Marseilles, New Bombay.

1310 need 10%luxury (missing wines), send SOD towards Cherbourg (road to Poitiers w dyes)

Next turns: Fighting continues giving us Cherbourg, Poitiers (dyes), Rouen (oil!), Brest, New Lyon, New Rheims, Kawauka (small rubber island), New Tours.

Great Leaders Washington (cav army), Lee (tank army), Sherman (tank army).

Built Battlefield Medicine, Heroic Epic; Military Academy next turn.

Since tanks give us the ultimate weapon, I prioritized building them over bombers.

The transport will (shall) pick-up the tank (after healing) in Kawauka and -- once the destroyer escort arrives -- drop troops to capture New Besancon w France's only rubber.

I used heavy shelling to keep losses at minimum when attacking and protected our wounded units. We lost about 2-3 units per turn only. To fight war weariness, we need some police stations, cathedrals, cols. If ww is too big, I would make peace w France (they are eager to do so already) and crush India (no rubber). But get Besancon first!

We move toward Amiens (w Sistine). Do some bombardment, get more tanks and capture in 2 turns. Nothing will stop us now.

Wow! Three Great Leaders! Outstanding, sounds like a fun set of turns. :goodjob: Tao!

Everything checks out. We seem to be set up to make some real progress.

1355 (1)
Bombard and Capture Amiens (a large metropolis) with the aid of an army and we have Sistene Chapel.

1360 (2)
Succeed in creating a spy in France. Investigation of Paris reveals 7 infantry defenders, and 5 entertainers in the captital. France is mobilized, and Paris makes 1 infantry per turn.

Capture the mid sized city of New Paris and the metropolis Tours with the help of an artillery barrage.

1365 (3)
Capture the moderately sized metros Bayonne and Strasbourg.

1370 (4)
With all of the troops to manage, I forgot to put defenders in Bayonne and France recaptures it.

We retake Bayonne from 1 vet infantry and 2 conscripts using an injured army and some leftover artillery.
Bombard and capture the core cities of Marsellies and Avignon.
The capture of Marsellies brings Rennes into artillery range, and we shell and capture it along with Newton's University.

The transport disembarks troops at New Besacon to begin the capture of the French islands.

1375 (5)
We lose a few tanks to counterattacking cavalry. France has been manufacturing about 8 units per turn not including those they are sending at India. A lot of cities riot as War wearines increases.

We found New Washington to bring Paris into artillery range.
Paris is shelled by about 40 artillery and it still takes ~10 tanks and an army to capture the city along with the Hanging Gardens. Losses are minimal due to retreats.
Capture the islands city New Besacon along with the French rubber supply.
Build rails to bring artillery to bear on Indus and capture the city.

1380 (6)
Springfield flips to India. Our incense deal with India expires and I don't renew it (they are next).

Most of our artillery are out of position after Paris, and there is just enough to help capture Grenoble.

1385 (7)
More cities riot due to loss of dyes and maximum war weariness despite 20% lux tax. The cities with cathedral are immune from rioting because of the Sistene Chapel effect, and I switch a few tank builds to cathedrals.

We bomb and capture Orleans along with much needed Bach's Cathedral.
Capture Lyons with Magellan's Voyage. (The city's last defenders were conscript riflemen).
The capture of Orleans brings Toulouse into artillery range and it is captured, cutting the French empire into two halves.

Tanks are being transported to the second French island from New Besacon, but it is somewhat dangerous as France has 17 ironclads out there and our destroyers are still on the way.

1390 (8)
We capture the French island city of Gewanga and get a leader.
Capture Bengal with armies (no bombardment)
Bombard and capture the hilltop metropolis Chartes along with Sun Szu.

1395 (9)
Capture the island city of Gayagaahe, completing the conquest of the western French island.
Capture Rheims along with Universal Sufferage in a costly seige in which we have to resort to cavalry to finish the job.
Rush and take the small tundra city of Dijon.
Take Dacca by rush.
Bombard and capture the hilltop city Bordeaux.

With the all of the French core cities in our hands, we make peace with France for Tyendenaga, New Hyderabad, New Avignon, WM and 647g (everything they had left).

I abandon Tyendenaga as it is deep inside Indian territory and a liability during the next war, and turn off luxury tax.

1400 (10)
WLTK breaks out all over in celebration of the end of the war. India moves troops toward the last French city.

I use the leader to rush an airport in New Besacon, and cash rush temples in many captured cities as resistance ends. Units are moved into captured cities in order to quell the remaining resisters.

Once India destroys France, we will be ready for the next war. Hopefully none of the captured cities will flip before then.

dojoboy, do you have the save? I would prefer not to skip you this round since tao would be next and he was up just last turn.

No, I had been waiting on a post, just came by to check. I usually get an email telling me the thread has been updated. Sorry for the delay, I'll d/l tonight and play soon after.

1405 AD - WASH b tank, set to army.
1410 AD - Cleaning up pollution; IBT -> India destroys France.
1415 AD -
1420 AD - Began automating some workers; cracked. :crazyeye:
1425 AD -
1430 AD - WASH b army, set to army.
1435 AD -
1440 AD - Researched Computers, set to Ecology (thinking Synthetic Fibers)
1445 AD -
1450 AD - Established spy in India.

Observations: Really tried to get through my turns w/ out incident (projects to grade and comment cards to write); India remains in communism even though Gandhi finished fighting 8 turns ago; deals on the table w/ India can be cancelled any time prior to a declaration of war, not that its a problem at this stage of the game.

So now India is the only competitor left. Since it will take Ecology, Sythetic Fibers, and Rocketry (Aluminum) to reach Modern Armor, I would expect that we might be able to take out India before they become a factor. Defense will be easy now that we have Mech infantry available, and I would guess that the game will be over in 15-25 turns with our enormous number of tanks.

I was wondering if I could have 1 more turn b4 this game ends? Unfortunately, I will only be free next monday. If this is not possible, it's ok. RL took an ugly turn.

Either tao or gormdragan can grab the save and get this one closer to the finish line. Unfortunately, I will be swamped with work until Wednesday otherwise I might have taken another turn to get this going again.

I am up on 2 SGs now. If tao does not pick this up by the time i'm through with both, I take it.
