One thing this just made me think of (and I have no idea if it pertains to your sister or not), but its much better to get a letter from some nobody professor who actually knows you, than a generic form letter from a big name.

I would caution you against taking the test multiple times, unless you did rather poorly the first time. My understanding is that the scores are averaged, so you need a real improvement to make much of a difference. (although this is going back 4 years, so who knows how well I remember). My...
