I just wanted to say ...

I've been a Civ player since Civ I and I pretty much stopped playing after Civ V vanilla. I don't own a computer outside of my work any more, but I bought Civ VI for my iPad thanks to a Christmas iTunes gift card. I was skeptical but outside of some minor annoyances in the AI, the port is...

    No Multiplayer with PC folks

So I installed the Mac version on my MacBook and tried taking it into a multiplayer game with some of my online (PC) friends. When I hosted the game and invited others, they'd appear in the game room for a brief second or two, then get kicked back out because they are told it was a "version...

City-States have better intel than I do (bug/feature?)

Howdy. In my current game as Japan, I'm on a medium-sized continent with three other city-states. After befriending one, the two others are asking me to get rid of another city-state, Rio de Janeiro. Only one problem. I've explored all around my continent with a trireme and can not see Rio de...

    My First Game Thoughts (9-20/21)

After an agonizingly long day at work on Tuesday, I finally got home, plopped on the couch and booted up Civ V for the first time. Instead of customizing my first game, I went straight in with the "Play Now" function and got the Aztecs, Chieftain level, on a small Continents map. I...

    Mac/Bootcamp and DirectX 9 vs. 11

Howdy. I started up my copy of Civ V during a free few minutes at work and noticed that I could only run it in DirectX9. I didn't know why until I saw on another thread that DirectX 11 is only available with Windows 7. I am on a MacBook Pro with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and an NVIDIA...

    G4TV Review of Civ V

Posted Here Critical of the diplomacy, but I can't fault them for that - "true" diplomacy is one of those things that'll never seem realistic when dealing with AI.

    Problem with Afterworld scenario

I'm on the second mission with the Deception Beacon, but nothing is happening once I place my character that is carrying the beacon on the right space - and when I click the beacon icon, nothing happens. I've advanced 20 turns, and there's no attacks and nothing going on. Help?

    My first impressions...

... although I don't do impressions, my training is in psychology. :) I got home from work and installed the game. I then kept disc 2 in to play and it told me I had the wrong disc... so I put disc one in and it started up. Hmm. Guess i'll have to relabel -that- disc... I knew I would only...

CIV IV Nominated For PC Game of the Year

Not sure if people saw this in the deluge of posts about "did you get it" or not but.... http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/051025/nytu157.html?.v=32 How Civ didn't qualify for 'most addictive game' I'll never know.

    My post-work Odyssey

Well, after hitting refresh about a million times on the CFC Civ IV forum this morning and afternoon, I finally left work at 4 pm. After two calls this afternoon to EB Games (no, we don't have it; it shipped today, we'll have it tomorrow) I decided to drop in on Target and *shudder* Wal-Mart on...

Will Trinidad and Tobago ever be a main Civ?

I've always wanted to play a Trinidadian and Toboggan. (Mods, sorry for the parody thread, but I just couldn't resist.)

    Okay, RTS or not?

I've spent an hour searching the posts here.. can someone give me a definitive answer on whether or not Civ IV will be real-time strategy or turn-based? Thanks a bunch.

    Asian Cup 2004

After spending the last two weeks in China, I got to see several Asian Cup 2004 matches (on TV, no tickets available in Beijing for any of the matches while I was there) Japan defeated China, 3-1, in the championship match, and it was a relatively easy win. China threatened a couple of times...

Locking Up in C3C/Rise of Rome

Howdy folks. I bought C3C and installed it. I ran the first Conquests! scenario with absolutely no problems, first as the Phoenicians (got my butt kicked) then as the Myceneans (won)... So I went to the Romans next. After one game in which I started as Rome and played ~20 turns - i made...

    Pete Rose: Again?!?!

The website www.baseballprospectus.com (a very good site until it went pay only, and now their writer's egos are writing checks their site can't cash) reports that Pete Rose will be reinstated to baseball in 2004. MLB quickly denied the story, of course, but at this point, I'm just sick and...

    First Day NFL Draft Steals??

Even though it wasn't a steal, I love the Jaguars getting Byron Leftwich. How stupid are the Minnesota Vikings?? And Willis Maghee will be the steal of the first round - in 2005.

    MLB Opening Day

Maddux and Glavine get shelled... the Red Sox blow a big lead to the Devil Rays... and the Jays' savior hammered by the Yankees.. I love opening day, even when my team is playing like a bunch of dogs. And hey, the Cubbies are in first! it -must- be opening day...
