Update 3 - Serbia Strikes Back
(2 September 2013)
My center is giving way, my right is in retreat; situation excellent. I shall attack.
News on the March
The sudden resignation of Patriarch Ilija Mozherić has spurred the Sjrb Empire's rivals to flex their muscles, resulting in a string of wars across the globe. But Srbija refuses to go down quietly, beginning full mobilization of its hitherto-untested military. Can its many enemies exploit the destabilization of its colonies to cut it down to size, or will the coming months prove talk of Sjrb "decay" to be tragically premature?
German advances into Bohemia and Alsace-Lorraine resolved to resounding success, but its salient against Belgrade ended in disaster with the assault force virtually destroyed. The ensuing retreat has seen Sjrb armies advance into Germany's southernmost territories; while German lines appear to be holding, such a crippling blow in the overture bodes ill for the war effort. Meanwhile, German-aided agitation has seen outright rebellion in Estonia and Russia, although its attempts at inciting revolt elsewhere were confounded by logistics.
The province of Catalonia has thrown off the Sjrb yoke, but its designs west critically underestimated the strength of the 7th Army. Unable to counter Sjrb air power, the Catalans were routed from Aragon while continued Sjrb naval superiority quashed attempted landings in the Balearcs. However, the rebels managed to fortify their hold in Valencia.
Sjrb and Manx armies clash on all continents with Illiam's rejection of the ultimatum and the contested land polarizes as troops latch on to whatever they can grab. Srbija makes a wide-scale strategic withdrawal from Chavezland, freeing up forces to combat the Manx in force in Central America, routing them north. The Manx fleet heading to what they thought was an independent Italy was ambushed by elements of Mediterranean and Atlantic Fleets near Gibraltar, resulting in heavy losses and the capture of the Doge of Wales.
Uday Hussein, exhibiting wisdom becoming of a great falcon, has exploited the Sjrb-Manx skirmishes to rally the people to his cause; three Iraqi provinces are now fully independent. Should he so choose, it would not take much more effort to expel the weakened invaders completely.
Meanwhile, Sweden has exploited the Imperium's overflowing self-confidence to trick it into a suicide attack against Chavezland. With Swedish support, the Chavistas slaughtered the amphibious assault on Peru and drastically cut down their holdings in Brazil. The Swedish army, discovering its original plan was a bit too ambitious logistically, could not assist in repelling the northern landings, and the Manx have established an extremely shaky beachhead in Guyana.
India has turned into a bloodbath as Sweden launches a full-scale assault on the Manx contestations. Front lines are beginning to harden, but much land remains in chaos with no clear controller. Swedish support has helped the Scots independence movement to drive the Manx from the highlands, while amphibious incursions have struck the Manx heartland in northern Ireland and the English coast. Surrounded by enemies, will the self-proclaimed usurper of the Sjrb mandate find itself prematurely extinct?
The Society of Friends is now widely considered a non-entity. The ill-advised assault on Crete all but annihilated its remaining combat personnel. Sjrb airstrikes on Síros keep Tsipras and his cronies cowering in their bunker as the ever-dwindling fanatical youth that constitute his supporters continue to slaughter themselves on the beaches.
Earthquake in the Pacific. Pan Pacific Defense Corps placed on high alert.
