Certainly Alex, sons of Heaven not divine Emperors and the three whom you mentioned as examples must certainly have been good rulers all taken into account. But they were hardly the Lords of a near-utopia such as das mentioned, just talented yet fallible humans like everyone else.

Xen, agree with a lot of what you posted there. Sensible and down to earth imho.

Do you stop?

j/k ;) When will this go back to alternate history?

hmm.. has anyone done a post-apcoliptic, pre 6000BC NES? Earth get's cought in an interplanitartry crossfire of two hostile races, (one useing clean weapons, the others useing nukes.). a good quarter of the planet is irradiated, and the land is alters on a massive scale in other areas. (hmm might do a map of this just for fun!)

now thats an NES!

Star Wars idea: Khabarakh never realizes Leia is the Mal'ary'ush on Kashyyyk, and instead dies with the rest of his fellow Death Commandos. The Noghri don't switch sides, Thrawn survives Bilbringi, and continues his campaign against the Republic, with possibly an eventual victory. Pity his five-year plan wasn't shown in Zahn's books, only noted...be useful to know about that to see the campaign trail. A possible consequence: Wayland is never found, because Luke isn't able to fuel up on Honoghr after his ambush after visiting Poderis in Orus sector in search of Thrawn's clones. He can't start the inkling of an idea to go to Wayland and look for the Spaarti facility. The Empire's cause would be greatly helped by a second PoD: carrying ysalamiri on the Draklor with General Covell, so C'baoth can't break his mind and is trapped in the Emperor's throne room.

The Day the Sky Fell
the Gods had Fought. That, Soren knew. over what, he dobted mortals like him could never guess, but they had fought. for 2 days, Terible Lights had flashed across the sky and the horrien, . many of his people had been blinded. and then, the Precious flow of the Nile had stoped, and the moon had decened to the Earth in the south. for many days and night it has sat there, not moveing, not prusuing the sun across the sky. seeming to block the very nile it's self. most of his people had resigned themselves to death, for without the nile, there was no hope, for endless desert surounded them. but not Soren. he stayed and he prayed to this moon. paryed for it to be meciful. prayed for it to bring back the Nile.

then as suddenly as the moon had decended, it was gone.. and a small stream flowed down the dead riverbed. he had rejoiced over it's apperinced. the moon-god had heard him! and this new stream grew slowly as the days and weeks went on. the Nile was returning.
