In our view, the Temple under Judaism was a sort of looking forward to the Atonement of Christ - blood sacrifices being a symbol of Christ's own sacrifice. Once the Atonement had occured, the Holy of Holies (and the entire temple) didn't have quite the same meaning that it did before. The temple, additionally, symbolized the afterlife, the way to which was opened by the Atonement.
