After having a a nice micromanagement training we had in RR5, I decided to try something more out of the ordinary. As it looks like the team is atleast as crazy as me ( no wonder, when most of the RR5 team already played atleast one PH game :D ) this time we are going to try a very unconventional aproach to a cultural win, without the normal arragements of wonders, corporations or high use of artist specialists in the would be legendary cities.

So, without further delay, this game variant is:

-All win options enabled
-We must win by culture
-Our 3 cultural win cities must never have any cultural status besides Legendary while in our hands. Said in other words, while in our hands, the cities in question must never have less than 50k of our culture.

err - how are you going to create automatic 50+k culture cities?

Espionage spread culture mission on foreign cities * how many times needed to get 50k culture there, then conquer :p You should already have a clue from the thread you came from :D

Obviously there was another possibility: generate 13*3 GA and bomb 3 conquered cities with them. But I guess that getting 39 GA is not THAT easy ... ;)

Like I said in RR5, I really don't care much for the leader. I really don't believe that any trait , UU or UB will help much in this variant. But Sumeria has a nice and early UB that helps, that's all ;)

Lurker: IIRC, Gilgamesh is possibly the best leader to have- Creative, Protective, and the Ziggurat, a powerful Courthouse that gives espionage at Priesthood, enabling you to get those spies out and start culture spreading. His UU, the Vulture, is a strong Axeman replacement that will help you keep early wars off your back.

Another good point is that Masonry is on the way to Priesthood, which means that getting the GWall is going to help you out in the long run.

From the link:
I Am Legend is a 1954 science fiction/horror novel by American writer Richard Matheson. It was influential in the development of the vampire genre as well as the zombie genre, in popularizing the concept of a worldwide apocalypse due to disease, and in exploring the notion of vampirism as a disease.
Sounds promising! :goodjob: I hope this SG will have the same monumental effect as that film. :)

Oh, this is a check in, of course!

Monarch, pangaea and Giggles all sound excelent to me.

You can remove the question mark.

I am signing up...

As for leader, what UBs help with spying? That IMHO is very useful to say the least.

Don't you lose all culture built up in a city when you capture it, or am I missing something

signing up to cause more mm mayhem :)

AFAIK there is no UB that helps directly with espionage. There are only 5 UB that have a espionage component and 3 are the same as a courthouse in terms of espionage effects ( the others are the spanish UB, that is the same as a castle in this regard and the Indian UB, that is the same as a jail in that regard ): the Aztec UB, the Sumerian UB and the HRE UB. The only one that could give a slight advantage directly to our variant is the Sumerian one , just because it is comes earlier and its cheaper ( Sumeria has the other plus of it's only leader being protective, that cuts by half the price of castles )

@oz

Thy already explained the idea. You don't lose your culture in a foreign city when you capture it :p ( in fact, if you have enough culture there, the city will skip the rebelion state completely :D )

I'll have to play an SG with you guys sometime.
Would be fun having both the Grey Foxes in one game :D

But that will have to be sometime in the future, I don't really have time yet.

Signing up, but keep me off the roster for this week. Was back to starfleet academy for training, often too tired to even check mails or browse web when I reached home, let alone play civ.
Ok, that's fine .... :p

Good grief :/ :D That could turn out pretty interesting indeed ;)

Rules clarification time.

If we culture push 3 border cities we could spread some culture from the overlap. Do it right, and we could have 3 cities with a lot of culture before a spy arrives.

However, I suspect this is NOT your intent. How far from our borders must those cities be?
