Looks cool, though I've always wondered how big a square (hexagon now, I guess) in Civ really is. If the size is taken literally, it's much smaller than I thought, as arrows can cross the lake. Also, whoever the yellow dudes are, they're toast.
Yeah, the range of ranged combat may be one of the first things to be edited in new mods, making it shorter and more realistic...but to each his own I love the idea of a hex map, tho! I really hope this one is more than just a half-step up from the current one, what with all the modding work that's been put into the CivIV. It's dang pretty, at any rate
Hmm.. about the range attacks, I'm not sure I like this game mechanic.
In one of the screenshots an army of archers is firing arrows over patch of water that in real life scale could be a lake 10 miles across. I can understand artillery having that kind of range.. but arrows?
Of course, maybe this is something I can get used to since a lot of elements in Civ don't really make sense.
edit: oops, looks like someone already brought this up. Disregard.
I hope they can fix te guys standing in the river. Not that big of a deal, just a little annoying sometimes. I remember somebody saying their wasn't any roads at one of the other pics but, is that a road in the upper right hand corner with the cattle pen?
