Is there anything that solved the problem of the go command being unable to cope with water in the way? I'm trying to use it for caravans. Is there any longer term disadvantage to not growing cities. Once you have loads, and they reach population 5, is it worth maximising the scientists to the extent there is no wheat for city growth?

Probably a meaningless question as it depends what you value about Civ II as to what you would want to be there in a later version. Or every version of Civ is radically different? I am enjoying playing Civ II, but if I wanted to try a later version, what would the best fit be?

Civ II is undoubtedly the best game ever. But that doesn't mean it doesn't have little annoyances. It's a bit of a pain when you want a unit to sleep but not board the next ship: an attack unit whose job it is to wake up when enemies come close, for example. Did anyone ever find a solution /...
