Mining is nice for being one step closer to BW. Agriculture too although, if it's a largely water map then having fishing off the bat is handy. Mysticism is only good if I'm planning on trying to spread a dominant religion which isn't that often.

You don't need all wonders. Sure if you're in the middle of the jungle with no fresh water the Hanging Garden's health bonus is appealing, but if you don't need it, don't build it. Likewise on a Pangea map the Colossus and Great Lighthouse are practically worthless. The Great Library however...

Try manually. It wouldn't patch for me either, running civ complete on Vista. Manual patching works fine.

Might I suggest starting with the Africa scenario map. To date that's my only prince win. If you want to move up then just do it. You won't know until you try. It is a bit harder but if you're doing well on noble then it shouldn't take a great deal of adjustment. I'd second 6k man's advice too...

I play on epic and will rush on a distance further than ten squares. Sometimes it's necessary. Yup. I had this trouble when I was playing on Warlord. War skills are something you need to improve. Consider this. Which AI seems to do best in your games? The ones that war, thus taking more cities and growing large? Or the ones who sit teching, get declared on and end up as a vassal...

It could use some tweaking. For example, I wish a 'friendly' AI would be more lenient, more open to tech trades, more willing to help in a war if you were declared on rather than the other way round, less worried about close borders causing tension and less likely to make demands of you. But...

Hunter, those religious civs winning by diplo victory? Try making them your primary war target. Also, even if you don't have the same religion as them, if it spreads in one of your cities, spread it to them all to increase your voting power. If you prefer not having diplo on then that's fair...
