Cats and macemen. I do it all the time. And the full-strength maceman vs. the weakened musketman battle clips are the BEST! More than once I've seen my maceman run up to the city defended with one last musketman. Point blank range. Pow! Pow! Pow! Maceman's head flinches with each Pow! then "ugg"...
Alex and Monty always give me grief. So does Izzy, but she's easy to wipe out. :p India and Cyrus always choke me, but they're usually easy to slap around, too. :)
First off: don't play Total "Realism" mods. No starting techs for anyone but the barbs have ARCHERS. I farted away a good Saturday morning with this waste of time. :(
I think most of us were infatuated with Catherine in our early days of CIVIV. :crazyeye:
One fanatic once said: "she's got to be the hottest piece of pixelated ass ever created!"
I don't know of any way except winning a game before you reach the industrial or modern age.
And I think you might be mistaken. There is a lot more to an industrial or modern age than simply having "tiles" and huge population. It's what you DO with your tiles/resources/population that makes...
Lighten up. Geez. Some of us have been playing CIV for years but still playing on lower levels. It all depends on what you want to do and learn about the game. Any "fanatic" can become an "expert" playing deity level if all you do is master one stategy with one favorite leader.
I like to play...
Fellow warlord here. :) And I've been playing this game since June. But I have a life, too.
I finally kept up/went ahead in tech consistently when I learned how to keep up my commerce. Also, libraries and universities and other research buildings help out a lot. And if you want...
My level of cheating only involves a restart after a bad break in the game. Now if I get more than one or two of these "bad breaks" I'll just consider it a loss and quit. If I'm dumb enough to let my military defenses slip just because I'm too busy building wonders for the rare cultural victory...
Back in my very newb days I went to war with Alex who had theocracy (I knew about that one) but also this stange civic called "vassalage".
("STUPID GAME!!!")
    :lol:
Don't sweat it. Most (>90%) of everyone over here plays 2 levels above where they are really able to play because they know how to exploit a certain leader's traits. Ask any of these bozos if they have ever won a cultural victory playing Monty.
Power rating. I always get attacked by any 'aggressive' personality if my power rating is substantially lower than theirs. And paying 'tribute' only delays the inevitable. I'm still learning to take heed and start building my military if anyone demands tribute.
Yes, you are correct. 75000 on an epic game. I was mistaken. I was playing an epic game, not a marathon.
And I had so much fun winning this type of victory I started another one this morning ... and got my butt jumped on by HC because I let my military slip. It was only a matter of time since...
