This is how to position players.

Well... sadly it doesn't work. And if I remember correctly Brad once said that it's not even supposed to work, because he never implemented it in the Mac version, which still is v1.21 based (although the 'player starting location' entry exists).

    Another newbie question

You can change, delete or add to the possible city names using the civIII editor. In the editor you first have to enable custom rules for your scenario file via Scenario > Custom Rules. After that open the civilizations tab, Rules > Edit > Civilizations… and add city names in the center left...

    Mac civ3editor help

Unfortunately there is a bug in the editor that sometimes makes it 'forget' parts of the editable rules, meaning that it's possible you don't see the build, fortify, disband etc. options because their entries are missing or incomplete in the scenario file. You might have to reconstruct them from...

    CIV3 Cheats?

If I remember correctly, the 'multi'-cheat made it possible for you to see the entire world map from the beginning. It's possible that it also allowed the player to take a look at the AI's city screens, but I can't remember if I just read that or actually verified it. Either way I'm pretty sure...

Help Installing 1.29b on Civ III Vanilla

If you just edited the name from Finder, it's possible that OS X just hid the extension instead of deleting it. To check that take a look at the 'Get Info' dialog using cmd-I or the File menu. In the 'Name & Extension' part you should see an edit field where you can change the name of your file...

    City boundaries mod?

I'm pretty sure this can't be done using a mod. At least not without changing app code. Would be a nice feature though. ^_^

    embassy creation bug

Well, after taking a look at the bic file you provided, the problem really seems to be the missing entry in the "build embassy" tab of your bic. At least concerning the can't-build-embassy problem. I'm sorry to tell you, that your running game (the one you send the sav-file of) can't be repaired...

help with the build queue ("QUEUE ACTIVE" weirdness)

The queue is really nice when playing huge maps with little water. In later expansion phases, I feel it helps me to stay focused on the larger picture, instead of having to cycle a lot of cities every turn to choose appropriate items to build in every one of them, while avoiding the use of...

are there any interesting scenarios for the mac?

Just go and have a look at the creation and customization forums or try the civ III downloads page also linked from the CFC main page.

    Game Running Slow

Yep, that's right. If you have enough spare disk space I'd recommend using two copies of Civ. One 1.29 version for playing and one 1.21 version for modding. That way, you can use the editor and get all the new and shiny features while playing. :)

    Macintosh Tech Support/Game FAQ

Patience. [Edit:] OK, don't actually want to start spamming. I like huge maps and even changed my bic to make the huge-sized ones even bigger. I'm on a 733/512/GF2MX and yes, in later parts of the game you learn just what I stated above. Maintaining a few hundred cities, you also learn what...

    lethal bombardment

Your file is here. All units with bombard strength non-zero and nukes, ICBMs, cruise missiles now have lethal land and sea bombardment. Haven't tested it though, so no guarantees.

    Mods on the Mac

It's more like a: "if you were to accidentally come along such an editor one day, which, also purely by accident (^^) of course, were to work on a Mac and decided to give a copy to everyone just because you're such a nice fellow, I would definitly want to try it... (before returning to work on...

    Mods on the Mac

Well, you could certainly delete all but the modern advances, rename the eras and distribute the remaining advances between the new eras. The only problem would be the crappy look of the tech tree, cause all of the connecting lines in the tech-viewer are integrated by using one picture for each...

    Mods on the Mac

Looking into the future again, are we, AlanH? ;) Mhm... maybe it'd be possible if one were to make all techs in the first two/three ages optional or move them to the ancient age altogether. But then you'd also have to make a lot of things cheaper (in shields) to build to compensate...
