I agree that Warlord may be good for nothing IF the sluggish/memory leak problem still can't be solved.
If such problem can't be solved, it is meaningless to add other features.
When multiple fighter/bombmers are selected and choose the air-strike mission, the aircraft won't fly over the target. Instead, the stack of aircraft just stay there in home city and the ball of fire show up right next to home city.
This look like the aircraft crash immediately after take-off...
I saw in a post some months ago that encounter the same problem as yours (no coal).
I think it IS possible!
To confirm such hypothesis, press Ctrl-W to enter World Builder and check around for coal.
Slavery is very useful not for its '1 gold', but the ability to population rushing, especially in early game when happiness is a problem and cannot support large population happily.
I disagree.
CPU internal cache(L2) just serve for increase in performance and should not be essential for any program.
Also, if the cache really matter, the game should freeze in minutes(perhaps even in seconds), not after hours. (the game is huge compare to the cache!)
The following method work for me:
1) Change "BinkCopyAll=1" to "BinkCopyAll=0" in config file.
see if it helps;
2) Download load resolution movies.
3) If above step is still insufficient and you're using ATI card, install the omega driver instead of the original ATI driver
i vote for engineer because i found it brings little benefits in late game---many projects cannot be rushed, little hammer and beakers gain for joining city.
i find prophets are quite amusing as they brings multiple benefits with some wonder and civics (gold, beaker, culture, and hammer all in...
I think explorer is not the worst unit as they're useful for exploring newly discovered continents; they are also useful to check out neighbours' development quickly due to their quick movement.
Crossbows are powerful defensive unit with first-strike upgrades. Place it all over hills and...
If your naval warfare happen after radio, you can do something interesting:
1) stack the following: Aircraft carrier, battleships, destroyers
2) rebase a few fighter on the carrier
3) send the fleet to the border or near enemy coast
4) recon with fighters: fighters can reveal a large area
I...
I think the current artillery unit is in fact a combination of two units: suicidal terriorist attacker and true bombarment unit.
People may make a mod adding a new unit called terrorist/suicidial attacker, which barrage into a city or stack of units causing colleteral damage.
The true...
I've seen that a size 17~19 barb city keep chunking out maceman and then grenadier, evetually took a newly established AI city (Persian) with 3 longbow in it!
I also saw barb horse archers attacking my AI neighbours instead of going into my territory.
I observed these in my first 1.61 patched...
I find the patch somewhat disappointing because....
1) The movies are still choppy even with low resolution version, with interlace on, high-colour, no background, 1024x768. (This make me suspect that the movie problem is independent of memory issue, but may be related to disk cache, file...
If Take 2 dare to include the Patch only in the expansion without independent patch release, I'll boycott its future products and told my friends about it.
Game play is fine so far to Warlord level. But the Movies are so Choppy that it makes more annoyance than enjoyment.
I really wish Civ4 re-introduce AVI movies like the day of Civ2.
I've 1GB Ram dual channel, Intel P4 2.8GHz, ATI 9800SE
I think a key factor for a playable OCC game is the map size. Only a tiny map is possible. Otherwise, you'll be overwhemed.
I've tried a OCC game on a standard map, 8 civ. By 18XXAD, all civ demand tributes/Tech from me and declarded war on me one by one (Monty, Napolean, Cyrus, Alexander; I was...
