I guess I just don't see the source for all the whining....the game installed right out of the box without issue for me. I've had no slowdowns, no CTDs, no graphical meltdowns...just hours and HOURS of FUN. Civ is FUN again after becoming a "one strategy/exploit" trick pony in Civ3/Conqests...
I pre-ordered (I've been an addict of the Civ franchise from the OLD OLD days)....brought it home the day it was released...I've played at LEAST 20 complete game without any major issues. No crashes to the desktop...no graphical issues...the one issue I have is with the sound skipping in the...
Strange....a Space Race victory is my preferred victory condition in Civ IV.
I like to build a secure, efficient and culturally superior core....play my competitors against one another via diplomacy, and build my Starship. :shrug
+1
And, uh MIRC....generally speaking, people will respect your opinions/observations a bit more if you at least OWN/PLAY the game prior to running your gums....

I've never been a fan of the Civ3 "exploit"....attempting to whore the same technologies all over the world...milking the system to get ahead. I prefer to carve out my territory and then make it the BEST....culturally...and militarily.
I don't care if the AIs like me or not....I'm only going...
No open borders for me....at least not in the 3 full games I've played so far. I use territorial boundaries to ensure myself the time to fully develop my "core cities" (usually 3-7 cities).
Once I have my core fully functional and my preferred Civics in place, I begin the process of...
I appreciate the feedback!
I think I'm going to go with the "blitzkreig" approach...hoard and protect my technology and strategic resources while assembling a massive invasion force to destroy the Inca. I do not want to deal with the possibility of cultural flips. My cavalry/cannon/riflemen...
My current game as the Celts has presented me with a fun "challenge". I fought Ancient Era wars with first the Germans and then the Romans to take complete control of a large continent. I immediately switched to a Republic after conquering the Romans and have spent the last several centuries...
It would seem that building a Courthouse in a city losing 4+ gold/turn to corruption makes sense. Courthouses decrease corruption losses by 50% saving 2 gold per turn. The upkeep on the building it self is 1 gold per turn. Makes sense to me. :-)
