To the first one:

True, however eventually the Missouri "Compromise" was really just an attempt to make the federal government in charge of the states without reason. IF the slaves weren't people (Which was how most people unfortunately viewed it back then) then popular soverignty or legalizing it everywhere would have been smarter. Since slaves were people, it should be illegal everywhere. But, it wasn't, and the North didn't care too, hence they were compromisers. In other areas, the South supported states rights and except for slavery I agreed with them.

To the Second thing: I used to live in Florida, and they weren't too uncommon there, however in NC when I was visiting I saw a lot of them. I laughed when I saw one in Pennsylvania. Never here in NY.

Also, I support a state's right to secede. I don't support ANYONE'S right to hold slaves, however the federal government didn't care about ending slavery, they just wanted to rule over the South IMO.

Just a question BTW, are Confederate flags often or ever seen in Texas?

Also, its hypocritical the North's stance. Slavery I agree is opposed by the constitution and should be federally banned, however, if its a state's right it IS a state's right, no matter where that state happens to be sitting, so essentially the North were hypocrites (The south were as well I agree.)

Think of it this way, right now abortion is (Foolishly IMO) allowed everywhere. If Roe VS Wade was overturned and it became state's rights (It should be federally banned IMO) it would be foolish to say "Well, states north of this line can't have it, states south of this line can." That would be dumb IMO.

That's all well and good for such issues as gay marriage, drug legalization, exc. where it only hurts yourself, but when someone is hurting somebody else, that is the ONLY reason for government.

Don't get me wrong, Lincoln wasn't a fan of slavery but he wasn't willing to do nearly as much about it as I once thought.

I don't support slavery either but both sides did and I support states' rights.
