The last patch brought a nice improvement to the combat performance of the barbarians, who appear close to your cities and harass you at the start of the game. However, their counterparts you meet on secluded islands behave sometimes strangely.

Here are two examples:

1. Why does the Barbarian Battleship(!) does not fire on my Skirmisher and instead flees into the fog of war? Don't think this is a line-of-sight issue; AFAIK battleships can't use their full 3-tile-range without surveilance support, but two tiles shouldn't be a problem, right?

2. In the SE corner of the map, two Skirmishers are barb-hunting on an island:

Its fine that the wounded units flee instead of doing a suicide attack, but why does the Musketman just moves a tile east instead of attacking? (I checked - the southern Skirmisher in range is not standing on a hill…)
It is also worth to note that the Indonesian Apostle doesn't get harmed (not sure if it was ever intended, but I surely remember that I had lost unprotected apostles on mission to convert heathens in the past).

To reproduce with the attached save:

Load it and end the turn, both Encounters described above will happen in the interturn.

EDIT: For some reason, both issues don't reproduce anymore for me despite the game version being unchanged. Thread title edited.

Regarding the unharmed religious unit above, I tried now myself if I'm that lucky as well. Result: I get killed, regardless if I move a Apostle on the tile a barb units stands or if move adjacent to a melee unit. Which makes the situation encountered and described in the first post even less understandable...
