1.24 Released!

Hi Xyth,

I've noticed that the naval movement works different in Mac and Windows.
I'm used to play on a Mac, and the first boats (not allowed to access oceans) can move to the coast, and any island or reef connected to the coast (but not necessarily being on the coast). While in Windows, those boats can not enter to islands and reefs if they are placed on the ocean.

Curious. Must be due to some change to movement introduced by K-Mod. Will investigate.

Hi Xyth,
Do you want to take a look at these mp3 files for religion?

These are the changes I made:
1) Reduced volume
2) Added fading in / fading out for most religions (made audio more fluid)
3) Shortened Vodun's audio

For anyone who wants to try these out, replace the mp3 in History Rewritten/Assets/Sounds/Religions

I've been meaning to make such adjustments but haven't got to it yet. I'll add them to 1.24.1. Thank you very much!

No problem, glad to hear the adjustments will be making it to 1.24.1. After playing with the new audio however, I found that I may have reduced the volume too much. I amplified my adjustments in this file so the volume should be closer to the original religions. I couldn't find the original audio files for Buddhism, Islam, etc; if anyone knows where those are at that would be great because I could use them as a reference to make the volumes more similar.

On a separate note, during my game I ran into a tech/resource pitfall where I couldn't cross the ocean with settlers because you need saltpeter to build galleons, and there is no alternative to cross the ocean with ground units until the industrial age (the Clipper is the next ocean-faring ship that can carry passengers). What are your thoughts on making the galleon not require saltpeter, or creating a naval unit that doesn't need saltpeter in the Renaissance?

Hmm, are you suggesting sloop or schooner?

Whit something like 5 power 3 movements 70cost 2cargospace (Require: Prime thimber or Copper or Iron)?
Well there is a gap and the model database isint large so it will probably all have the same model.
Bud...
I think, it will be better if "charter tech" give free promotion "Can Enter Ocean" to Cog and Galleass. (Thats, will be evil)
Bud...
If there is a this ship class the caravel can lost its purpose.
-Why i cant build this ship after Charter (Or i cant?) i need sneak spies and religion dissidents into opponent island empire to mess whit hiss dissent.

And if we talking about ships. Anny suggestion for model for that pirate/barbarian party? (civ 1,2)

I was leaning more towards removing the requirement for saltpeter on the galleons because the frigate and the ship of the line seem to be the dominant warships of the era; whereas I always saw the galleon as the transport ship of the era.

I know. I was thinking about something like Sail from Civ 2.

But something else. Its possible to make AI dint ask to declare war to empire on different continent that you dint have yet the possibility to reach whit military units? Something like this will be unable uitil you dint reach the "charter tech"

They're all in Civilization IV/Assets/Sounds/. Each of the original religions has 3-4 (mostly similar) sounds and they're in the Building or Unit subfolders. Note that volume of these sounds can be set in the XML as well (Audio2DScripts.xml and Audio3DScripts.xml). For the original religions, the volume is set between 70 and 100. The custom religions are all set to 70.

I'll remove the Galleon's resource requirements. I don't think there's space for an additional cargo ship in that era.

No, neither of these ships were capable of ocean voyages.

Not sure why the Caravel upgrades to a Frigate. I might make it upgrade to a Clipper instead. This is where there could be space for an additional ship. An upgrade to the Caravel that still only carries passengers not entire units. I'd have review what art is available though. Easy to find European options, much harder to find naval art for other regions (that I haven't already used). Will look into it after 1.24.1.

Not possible.
