1.5x patch still have black map

Vehemoth, looks like you're running a bit low on disk space. Windows is liable to get crabby on you if things get any tighter.

I just got the update from the advanced options in the game. At first, when i tried to run it, the thing wouldn't work at all, it just said that there wasn't enough memory and crashed. So I changed the options to low levels for the graphics. The Leader Animation works now. But the terrrain is /still/ blacked out.

This hardly makes sense. I can see the units, cities, the forests, jungles, coastal waves, rivers, just not hill, peaks, plains, or ocean. There has to be some way to see them.

You can almost play without them infact, but no one should have to.

ctrl+w to enter worldbuilder. In the window on the top left, click the tab "technologies" scroll down to "satellites" and click it. Should get rid of black terrain. It's cheating but you can't do much else with a SIS chip.

EDIT: There is a mod floating around that has lower texture leaderheads (sorry I don't remember where I saw it, try google). That might help the leaderheads but I can't be sure.

Try these workarounds, if your card is under spec and the lastest patches and video drivers are installed this is about all you can do.
