1.61 crash

I installed newest patch and the game still freezes in the beginning of a new game. Autosave runs and the speech keeps going. After pressing "play game" button game freezes and screen stays black. Then i must reboot my computer. Game also crashed when i loaded a mod. Has anybody had same problems?

A lot of people have had problems with 1.61 caused by incompatible mods. Emptying or renaming your custom assets folder should fix it, or failing that doing a clean install of Civ 4 followed by a patch to 1.61.

Any mods made prior to the release of 1.61 are likely to cause problems.

i made clean install and installed 1.61 patch, but it didn't help

Are you playing the regular version of the game or a moded version? I have found a lot of mods don't run or crash at different points.

mods are crashing randomly when loading game. Regular game crashes at the beginning when the game should show map (after first autosave)
