I got this event in my last game that allowed 1 extra movement on roads. I haven't read anything about this before. Has anyone else had this random event?

It's came in quite handy too as I had no coal for railroads.

Nope never had it, sounds quite handy too for ground troops though and fighting off invasions!

You sure it wasn't you just researching the right tech? One of them (can't remember) turns road movement from 1/2 to 1/3...

If it is an event, that's good repelling invaders early/mid game...>>

Definately wasn't Engineering. I got a pop-up saying my engineers had developed a new highway system. Road movement was up to 1/4.

Cool. Concerning events, has nayone ever completed one of the "hard quests"? I sometimes get a quest about horsewhispering or a Master Smith, demanding forges or stables or whatever, but I always have too few cities - sometimes they require 9 when I have 3...!

Yes I have completed a few of them, even the holy mountain task by accident.. well a city border pop got it for me.

Done the harbours, and the stables, done the swordsmen, and the libraries.. I'm starting to forget what they all do now! :p

This is the "Eisenhower" event...

"Our engineers have planned a massive empire-wide highway program, which will allow greater movement, etc., etc."

Yes, I've gotten it twice.

I've seen it a few times. Doesn't show up till after the invention of railroads though, so it's rarely relevant.

Yeah, I've won the Horse Whispering quest. I took the reward that allows each Stable to generate +1:food:. Handy!

I've also won the quests to build a bunch of swordsmen, colosseums, libraries, and triremes. But the coolest quest was the quest that required me to build a modern fleet: destroyers, aircraft carriers, and fighters. When I won, I chose the reward to give each Harbor some extra commerce. (I don't remember how much it was.)

Oh, and I've failed the Holy Mountain quest in almost every game I've played. Man, I hate that quest....

To the OP: Yes, I got the Interstate Highway quest in my current game, actually. It's a bit useless IMO, but the extra road movement did make it a bit easier to improve the captured Egyptian cities that didn't have railroads yet. ;)

got a great early event that gave ALL my new melee troups cover I, got it just after first unit on marathon too...v nice lol
