I loved vanilla civ and played it like crazy up until civ 4 warlords. At that point I was reading some of the release features for the upcoming (at the time) expansion BtS and saw a mention of a fantasy based mod that would make an appearance in the game. I looked online and found that it already existed, took a risk and downloaded it (first game ever downloaded). I have not regretted that since and on the rare occasion that I load up vanilla for old times sake, I quickly become bored and go back to FFH.

19) Because an optional magic system should be an obvious feature by this point in the Civ line... and it's never been so elegantly implemented as in FfH2 (to the best of my knowledge).

100) Because it doesn't need 100 reasons. Everything was already said in this thread. Civ4 was a good engine and had interesting mechanics, but it became boring quite fast. Its main "plus" was the moddability which is awesome.

FFH2 added everything possible, and did it in a very entertaining and professional way. I wouldn't buy BTS if it's not for FFH2. Period.
