1000 clues your civ3 management skills need help

What's wrong with that? If you brought a big stack of units, including Berserks, and you attack from land, you have much higher chances to win than what you would have if you would have attacked from sea!

Why would you have a higher chance of winning if you attack from land as opposed to sea? I don't remember anything about the beserk having better attack values from land.

It's not about the odds. It's the surprise factor. Unfortunately, the AI doesn't know how to exploit it.

I think what Mirc was trying to say was that you can only put 2 Berserks in a galley, 3 in a Caravel, and 4 in a Galleon (Yes, I know you can put 8 in a transport, but you won't be using Berserks when Transports come along ;) )- you can only attack from sea with so many Berserks, whereas you can make huge Musket (or rifle)/Berserk SoD's. The Berserks are hidden under the muskets, so the AI doesn't know they're there- allowing for an ambush.
In any case, the marine ability should still be used vs. coastal cities, as the Berserk can beat any unit in the Middle ages without much trouble.

353: You never use the lux slider. As a warmonger.
354: You always use lux slider. As a builder.
355: You are up to future tech 347 - and haven't won the game yet.
356: You are the runaway tech leader. You don't upgrade your units.
357: As a builder, you never try to build sistine chapel.
358: As a warmonger, you never try to build San Zu's Art of War.
359: You are both the poorest civ AND last in the tech race. On chieftrain.

EDIT: FIXED ERRORS. Thanks choxorn :)

Usually, you'll be in Commy/Fascism as a warmonger- where there's no WW. Besides, you can always use the whip on totally unhappy towns... :mischief: :whipped:

What if someond declared war and your democracy couldn't take it?

That's more of a sign you play civ 3 too much (which I would put in if the threads weren't locked  )

What if you didn't have enough money? ;)

Maybe one of the AI built them first. It should be, you never try to build them.
360. It's 2049 AD on Chieftain. You are researching Feudalism.

You'd better have a lot of lux then, as warmongers usually don't have imporvments.

If WW gets that bad, I usually either change goverments (religous), or make peace. Anyway, "only during war" is very far from always. (For builders)

Sorry, I'll add "and haven't won the game yet" .

You should be very rich, just stop tech for a turn or two to upgrade. (two turns won't hurt a runaway leader;) )

DOH! You're right on that one :D

Don't you mean 360?

AFAIK, the whip only affects the city you use it on. You can just use it to rush some happiness buildings.

I mean, that runaway AI that has half the power bar, is an age ahead in tech with you, and takes 5 cities the turn they declare war with RoP rape... ;)

hmm. good point.

Just being a bit picky here, but if you abandon a city with unhappiness due to pop-rushing, that unhappiness gets transferred to the nearest town of yours (this is most likely to come into play if you capture a town, sell the improvements then abandon).

I know I need help when I have to go back a few turns and replay things because cities I recently captured keep culture flipping.

'Unfortunately' I have a Mac, so I can't use CivAssist so I have to sort of play 'blind' :scan: and save after almost every turn. :crazyeye:

With a disband/rush strategy though I've managed to keep hold of some that have wonders. I'll go back in 20 turns and clean up that foreign culture problem....

362.What are the sliders? Are they some unkown civ? In that case, it's time to :nuke: them!!

flips on cities you capture isn't uncommon and isnt' really a sign that you are mismanaging things. Well, it might be if you are on chieftain. But it's pretty normal on emperor and above, which is why a lot of people raze cities they get instead of capturing them.

364: You forget to build settlers and end up with one city and no room to expand.

365: You think happiness is pointless, because "WHO CARES IF THEY ARE HAPPY? I'M THE BOSS OF THIS DEPOTISIM! BOW DOWN, PUNY SEVERNTS!"
366: You try to make all cities on WLTKD. With clowns alone.
367: You automate workers because you're to lazy to move them yourself. (guilty)
368: As a builder you think: "Who needs wonders? Those are for warmongers! I'll get units!"
369: As a warmonger you think: "Who needs units? Those are for builders! I'll get wonders!"

371. When the city is in disorder, you try to use the whip to make them go back to work (and yes, I know you can't do that in disorder)
372. You sign an RoP with a militaristic civ that has a bad reputation.

I almost said signing RoP with the Zulu, but it's also a bad idea to sign one with the Mongols, Germans, Vikings, and Aztecs, and it's a bad idea to sign an RoP with the Japanese, Chinese, and Romans if they have a history for war or are big.
