2 human players + several AIs

What is the most interesting way to play the game (rules accepted by both players), if you play with one friend + several AIs?
Is the best objective trying to defeat each other by all means, or agree on some home rules, or play it more like single player game, where you try to achieve any standard victory?

i can suggest u play this way:
1human+1ai per team always war.
U should both agree on the following rules.
The goal is to make ENEMY AI fly into space before ur ai does.
So ur goal is to backstab, betray and slow down ur friendly ai, and help enemy ai. While u are in war with the enemy ai and enemy player. Also u lose if u get killed.
Also u get bonus achievment if u have more gamescores than ur opponent human at the time of game end.
