I just wonder if it's possible to used 2 PCI sound cards in a same computer. Why? My problem is:
_ under win98, when you launch a game (diablo for instance), it will take total control of the sound card, therefore no system sound would play, you will just hear a speaker beep. And the other problem is that my webphone won't work either.
_ under win2000 it's different, it works fine but diablo doesn't work. So I must reboot under 98 to play diablo but then i can't talk to my teammate anymore.

So I just want to know if I can add another sound card and if so, is it possible to make windows use one SC for Diablo, and the other one for Windows system/webphone software/the rest?

Could be a driver problem.....of maybe Diablo is designed that way?

Yeah, I have had this problem with Diablo but then I downloaded a new diablo patch. I don't remember where I found it, but it wasn't an official patch, just something someone had made to fix the prob. I don't think I still have it but I will look.

Why not just turn off the sound in Diablo? Wouldn't that solve the problems? Also if it's an mp3 player or cd your trying to listen to, if you start listening to it before starting Diablo it should override Diablo's music.

That doesn't make much sense turning off the sound in diablo since you won't be able to hear if a ring is dropped by a monster. That's one of the sensible example that comes in mind. But also, when you teamplay, you must hear where the fighting sounds come from so you can quickly go and help your friends.
