2007 IIHF World Championships

I don't think there's any hope left for Finland. Canada has played tactically perfect game this far and we just can't find ways to turn the game around. Lehtonen hasn't been as good as he was against Russia (1st and 3rd goals were a bit easy but on the other hand he made some superb saves during the last minutes of the 2nd period). Our defenders just aren't good enough (I wonder how we made it this far with them) and we don't have scorers like Nash and Staal (the old problem of making goals).

Can't say I'm disappointend though as I honestly didn't expect us to even get a medal this year.

Congratulations to Canada for 4-2 win. We had a good 3rd period but it wasn't enough.

Business as usual. Finns started really playing a bit too late. And then came someone called Rick Nash (who the heck is he ;) ), and ridiculed finnish defenceman Pekka Saravo. Well, maybe Pekka was a bit too soft - becoming a father last tuesday.

Congrats to Canada.

That one got quite exciting near the end. The Finns really made it a close game. Congrats to them for that. And congrats to the Canadian team for bringing home the gold. :yeah:

No surprise that we lost. Finland just don't know how to win these big finals. :(

Final standings in the tournament:

1. Canada
2. Finland
3. Russia
4. Sweden
5. USA
6. Slovakia
7. Czech Rep.
8. Switzerland
9. Germany
10. Denmark
11. Belarus
12. Italy
13. Latvia
14. Norway
15. Austria
16. Ukraine

Next year the tournament is in Canada, Quebec City and Halifax.

:goodjob: Canada :)

(though I would have prefered Finland to win :mischief:)

Congrats to Canada :) Finland did better than I'd expected. Unfortunately Nummelin was injured, he might have made the final (well, the 3rd period anyway...) even more entertaining to watch. Lehtonen was really great, without him Finland wouldn't have got to the final. It's pity though Sinuhe Wallinheimo didn't play :mischief:
