2018 NFL Regular Season!!!!

Sherman was really taking charge of the D-backs at the end. You could see him yelling at people, waving his arms around and giving guys the "WTH Do you not see this?!? We're outnumbered on this side, get over here!" gestures... especially in the 4th quarter. He was also refusing to let anyone cover Davante Adams besides himself. I saw him pull guys off of Adams several times and take their place. But I don't think that played a role in the Mabin situation because its not like Rodgers wasn't going to find him wherever he went. Frankly I enjoyed seeing Sherman out there taking charge, trying to make sure that they didn't get caught off guard by the wiley Rodgers. The 49ers Defense really seemed to be playing their hearts out especially as the game progressed.

So go zone and give Mabin the short middle zone. If they burn him there as long as the receiver gets contained the game is over. I'll grant that they played hard, and no question that Sherman is a strong leader, but ya gotta play smart.

With the score tied up and when that last drive was just starting the GB announcer was just realizing SF still had 3 timeouts "Are you kidding me!" he exclaimed. Thankfully, if didn't matter, did they ever end up using any of them? (obviously not on offense), not even to 'ice' Crosby?

I was missing part of the game because I had to go do something, but while I was away from the TV (while my parents were watching) they told me the announcers said a ton of Packers players were injured (particularly on defense).

If the 49ers couldn't beat a bunch of B-team Packers players (even if they kept it close) then they're not in good shape...

https://www.packers.com/team/injury-report/

49er injury list was longer than GB (17 vs. 12), and GB defense was missing some 2nd and 3rd string and offense was missing two starting WR in that game (Allison, Cobb), but then I realized that list doesn't include 'out for the season' players. Is there a handy list somewhere of such players?

Why not do what I do? They don't show Seahawks games where I live (a small town in Texas), but I go to our local Applebees every Sunday
Many reasons why. There are several structural differences between your situation and mine that don't permit me to "do what you do" cake ;)

I'm waaaaaay beyond the "go to Applebees every Sunday" window of my life... particularly the "go to Applebees every Sunday and watch a full sporting event" window :)...

I could spring for the fancy cable package of course, but I don't want to, cause... well... eff the cable companies, I gave them enough money already... essentially.

Something that I was reminded of last night, after the game was that conversation we had awhile back about team culture, how you sort of expect the Browns, Lions etc., to find a way to lose and you expect the Packers, Pats etc to find a way to win.

I like to see guys out there like Sherman being leaders and always trying to will the team to a win. It was an encouraging sight. I hope its contagious and they keep good morale through to the end of the season. The culture and attitude of the team is such a big part of success.

I remember those days fondly. When I lived in Bako, single, I used to spend Sundays at this place that was like an Appleby's. They didn't open until eleven but the bartender would clock in to set up at ten and she let me in. I'd hang out, drink iced tea, and watch both games (no SNF back then). There were a bunch of other regulars and it was really fun.

People of all ages go to Applebee’s and watch the games. It’s not just people in their 20s. Our most obnoxious person is a browns fan (decked out in a mayfield jersey) who appears to be in his mid 40s.

I mean, you can take your kids with you (if that’s the problem). Applebee’s isn’t hooters.

Vegas is being pretty generous to the Cards. Broncos only win by 2.5? Rosen is going get slaughtered considering the Cards have a piss poor offensive line and both Von Miller and Bradley Chubb will constantly be after him. Then on the offensive side of the ball Denver is ranked 10 (football outsiders) and Arizona is 31. Rosen will be ineffective for the duration of the game meaning Keemun can play not to lose and that will be sufficient.

The Broncos, surprisingly, have one of the best o-lines this year. This is a huge mismatch.

I'm curious how you are defining best o-lines here.

I'm also sufficiently impressed by Miller and Chubb managing four sacks against the Rams, but have to say that the entire Denver front seems to be intent on getting a sack on every play...even on plays where the ball has been handed off. There are teams who can afford to play the pass and just let the run go. Heck, Payton Manning was the best run stopper on every team he ever played for. But Case Keenum is no Payton Manning. If Arizona has the good sense to let David Johnson carry them they can beat Denver.

I am defining "best o-lines" by football outsiders. Sorry, I thought it was obvious.

The Cards have been a piss poor team. I would say they are possibly *the worst* team in the league. The 49ers could be in that discussion too.

This Broncos team is not the team that won Super Bowl 50 but they at least have some legit weapons. A strong defensive and offensive line.

And this one from ESPN: Denver has the 8th most rushing yards this season, Arizona dead last at 32. Case Keenum doesn't need to be Peyton Manning.

I actually haven’t been to Hooters... deliberate choice. With the legitimate reason being I don’t like the type of food they serve. Even if the... delivery of how they serve it is nice.

I meant to ask what "good o-line" was based on, not where it came from. I dunno what FO is basing it on, though I suppose I could look.

A good pass blocking o-line might be measured by sacks allowed, though that can be misleading. For example, the Titans just gave up ELEVEN, but frankly it looked to me like Marcus Mariotta had some sort of tragic memory loss and forgot that they were giving him the football with the idea he would throw it sometimes. The Ravens front could have sat down for a card game with the o-line and still gotten him, because he just wandered around with the ball until they got there no matter how long it took. Guys like Brady make bad lines look good by getting rid of the ball so fast. So ya gotta look at least a little deeper than just that raw sacks allowed number.

Now, 8th in rushing yards might indicate a good run blocking line. It also could indicate one or more really good running backs. It could also indicate a really scary quarterback who makes the defense really play pass first and let the chips fall where they may. Or it could indicate a team that gets blown out a lot so the other team is basically saying "run the ball, run out the clock, let's get this over with." Oh, and hey, it could also be a team that gets stupid with the lead, thinks they can run out the clock, and gets pulverized in the fourth quarter a lot. The Broncos seem to have those last two contributing quite a bit.

I've watched some good chunks of Broncos games and not seen a particularly good o-line myself, but maybe I just caught them on their bad days. We'll see what happens Thursday.

According to reports from the owners meetings the various agenda items aren't getting as much play in the informal discussions as the questionable financial future of the Chargers in LA. They have revised their expected revenues down by 62%...for after they get moved into the new Rams owned stadium. They weren't expected to make money playing at Stubhub Arena, but if they are already admitting that they aren't likely to make money in the new stadium the question of their survival in LA pretty much has to start appearing on the official agenda.

People in British Columbia are already Seahawks fans so it would have to be elsewhere.

If they leave the states Mexico City would probably be the best destination. As for London, the Jags basically already have dibs.

Can the owners "force" them to go back to San Diego? Or are they headed to Canada/some other place?

"Hartford Whalers" has a nice ring to it.

The owners as a group can tell them that their franchise cannot devalue the product, and if they can't manage their franchise in a way that doesn't embarrass the league it can be revoked. When dealing with a franchise that has a market value of around two billion, based on just 'NFL franchise without any designated location, contracts, or equipment' that amounts to a very effective "sell it or else." Then they just need a buyer willing to take it on and ride that dragon. Unless there's a buyer who is wiling to foot the bill for a stadium in San Diego they aren't going there. The bloom seems to be off Jerry's rose lately, so the rest of the owners might finally be willing to shove a San Antonio team down his throat. Otherwise, I dunno.

Interestingly Khan just withdrew his offer to buy Wembly Stadium.

I was going to post a link to an ESPN article on this. I see that is not necessary. You've pretty much summed it up quite nicely.

Wonder how Mark Davis is reacting to this ... Anyhoo -

Would SD be more receptive to a non Spanos owned team? Or did they throw around too much nepalm / nukes for that to happen?

Failing that, right now St Louis would be the logical candidate from a market size standpoint.

The other owners might be willing to shove SA down Jerry's throat, but would they be willing to do that to McNair?

Ignoring existing rooting interests, these seem to be the only other cities that might be seriously considered :

Sacramento, Portland, Oklahoma City, Honolulu (albiet with the same travel issues as London except with East Coast teams having the worst trip). Maybe Memphis, but I suspect the Titans would fight it.

Ruling out : Birmingham since Alabama already has 2 professional football teams.
Louisville since it's too close to too many teams (Indy, Cincy, Titans).
Oakland - Due to both the city's antics and the fact that even jilted
Raiders fans would rather cut their wrists rather than root for the Chargers.
