Look for it on Steam, old Civ games are usually cheapo

I'd suggest you go for the gamersgate version. The steam version doesn't have PTW and I've seen many people complaining of bugs in the steam version. Also it's available for 5 dollars on gamersgate.

I second this recommendation, with one caveat: although the GG version includes all the user-created content (e.g. terrain graphics, maps, mods) that was released with PtW, and the PtW Editor, it (like the Steam version) also lacks the PtW executable (Civ3X.exe, v.1.27).

However, unlike the Steam-version (apparently), the GG version does include the Vanilla executable (Civilization3.exe, v.1.29) and the Vanilla Editor.
