Hello,

One week ago I tried to delve into the world of Civ 5 mods (a bit late to the party), and used a lot of the tutorials that are on this website to make a custom CIV, that's now totally properly working!
At the beginning it sounded so complex that I couldn't have imagined that I'd have something working in less than a week. Huge thanks to whoward69 whose tutorial https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/xml-data-files-for-standard-civilizations-inc-dlc.490901/ is really instructive and well detailed, alongside with all the messages you've posted in several topics whose creators had the same questions as me...

Now that I've got something wholly functional I'd still have a question about custom sound speech. I know that there are very few 3D leaderscreens working, and that is something I don't want to do. However, through reading a lot of topics and delving into the files of Australia mod to understand how it works, I found that the custom sounds are tied to the animations of the 3D leaderscreen. In other words, if you've got nothing functional in terms of 3D leaderscreen and only a .dds file in a the <Fallback>, than it's impossible to have custom speech because you've got no "animation" file. Is that correct?

When I temporarily copy/pasted the leader files from the Australia mod to try and change the speech with custom files, it worked. Of course when I tried to remove some of the files that were tied to the leaderscren or "force" the apparition of the fallback leader.dds in place than the 3D leaderscreen, the custom speeches were nowhere to be heard.

My question is: is it possible to trick the game with "empty" assets or another technique so that the player sees the fallback leaderscreen, but that there are still custom speeches that could be heard through the animation? Like "hiding" the graphics from displaying while keeping all the animating files doing the sound work behind?

Sorry if this had already been discussed before but I couldn't find a lot of topics that discussed this particular issues (there were mainly over the use of a custom 3D leaderscreen and 3D assets), and I couldn't find a mod that did that yet, leaving me thinking that it would be impossible.

So it that so?

Thanks!

Thanks! I've been looking for something like this and just couldn't find it....
