any progress on my situation sima? Now that the PBEM seems to have worked maybe you can figure out what is going wrong with mine!

Please use the attached diagnostic program and post what it tells you. Do not omit anything it prints out!

Instructions:
- Start Civ 3 Conquests
- Load a game
- Run findbic.exe and wait (it could take up to a minute for it to do its work)

Do this 5 times (shut down and relaunch Civ each time) and post each result. If they are different, I will be very confused.

Note: This will not fix your problem, it will just give me an idea of what might be wrong.

Are you running Windows XP SP3 or SP2? i advise installing SP3 and updates.

Try this version of the MP tool please. It should be a little more flexible in terms of what versions of C3C it will work with.

sorry i'm going to have to decline, i hope you have fun though, i'm playing a game where i am all 31 civs and its great not having all of the AI idiots making fools of themselves!

Sima, whenever I open the mp.exe, it opens for a split second, then closes.

@Princeof Persia - Are you using it correctly? Make sure you start your game first (make it at least to the welcome screen where you can see the map and your starting units), then run mp.exe.

Yes. I open C3C, then open mp.exe. It closes. This has happened with .exe files before.

It's already been explained earlier in the thread, but for the sake of simplicity, do this:

1. Put mp.exe at the top level of the C:\ drive
2. Hit Windows key + R to get the dialog box titled "Run"
3. Type "cmd" in the text box, then hit OK
4. You are now at a command prompt. Type "cd \" and press enter
5. Now type mp.exe and press enter
6. Post what it says

1. Hover your mouse over the C3C icon in your taskbar. What does the little yellow popup say?

2. Press ALT-Tab to toggle between your open programs. When you are on the C3C icon, what is displayed as the name of the program in the floating ALT-Tab window?

Is this tool likely to be available for LAN games at some point? Or only for PBEM and Hotseat?

Unfortunately, I have no idea how LAN games work. Never played any of those myself, and it's not currently a high priority for me to investigate. Sorry.
