Call it a mental block or plain stupidity, but I still can't figure out how to export my textured max models into a nif file without including the dds file as a texture within the model and not as separate dds file. I'd prefer to have a small nif and a dds file separately so the dds can be skinned per normal.

Can someone with 3ds max please download the file below (that includes the dds, the model, and the nif+texture) and try to explain to me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks a ton.

Here you go Woodelf, I edited it using Blender, so I guess I can't really help you diagnose your problem ;) .

I have attached the fixed file (nice BTW :) ).

Enjoy!

Thanks man. I was just about to post that I might be on the right path, but this is even better. I was doing so many things wrong that my head is spinning.

edit - And I'm adding your fix to my units thread for if people want to d/l the proper model. Thanks again.

@ Rabbit - Thanks for the PM. After chewing through it a few times the lightbulb flickered. It's not on, but it's trying to arc. :)

Okay, I went back and started with small, easy models and now everything works fine. I know I was making things too hard. :wallbash:
