All of these are great, I just don’t necessarily agree with this one:
We need to find something for the Corsair : in its current state, the unit is far behind the two other Corvette replacements.
Does it need to be as powerful as the other corvettes? It has almost nothing to help with combat, but is that actually a problem? It’s has 3 different ways to help economy, and has a bunch of “utility” promotions. It’s sort of incomparable, and I like the idea that the corsairs aren’t necessarily stronger than a normal ship

Thanks for the tips on waag! I also need to take the redundant list of resource bonuses

In that case, I agree that we let the unit as it is for now (I'll do a game session with Morocco to see how the Corsair feel).

Updated to 24.2. Only Github.

  • @pineappledan Sorry if I was too rough about that spamming issue. If you really want to perform so many updates I can suugest you one more thing: do it in your own branch and then you can as a collaborator merge that branch into master by yourself. Then for me and BG the merge changelog will be a complex list of your changes.
  • @pineappledan and @Blue Ghost If you add or modify or fix something important, please do appropraite note in changelog.txt. It is not biting too much. :p This file is not for us, but for every person who want's too test new version. They need to know what was done during last update. I cannot manage to add my changes and yours (I need to read every update you commit).
  • @Hinin I added your suggestions on github. Check if you like it. I'm not sure about new dummy Monitor promotion texts. Verify them.
  • Do Zealotry have no cooldown on purchasing units? I didn't know that.

But after founding religion it shouldn't be a problem. You just need to decide: few Qizilbashes or GP.

I was talking about a dummy promotion for the Iron Chariot, not the Monitor. :)
Speaking of the Monitor, as I said, the civilopedia article of the unit says that it is a unit "unique to the Union","efficient at fighting Confederates" : it should come back to its original status as an "American unique unit".

- The Sophet works well (but I agree that the unit should be able to disembark anywhere).
I think the problem is pretty obvious: no pathing exists for a great admiral to enter a terrestrial tile except for in cities, and maybe forts. Shophet s can only disembark in cities because they are fully naval units... until they aren’t, and as naval units their ability to enter terrestrial tiles is hard coded no

entirely different entries have been made for the monitor. The only things that has not been changed is the pesos entry. I am not sure what exactly is going on. Was monitor eltext working prior to the merge?

Should I just replace every apostrophe in the xml text with &#39 ? Is there suspision that the apostrophes are causing an issue? I don't know what could be causing the issue with certain entries like the SPAD

Also, where is the .modinfo file? I need to delete text files from it which I have consolidated into

Pracinha text has not updated from it being a CS gift. don't know why, the updated text is written and seems correct

SPAD and Hashemite text not appearing. don't know why.

Github synchronizes the folder with the project not compiled mod so theres civ5proj file instead.

Hah monitor. I did promotion for iron chariot and placed it in monitor. Funny. I need to fix that.

I deleted monitor texts and wanted to update existing ones instead. You need to put new update formula in textchanges.sql, find link for its civilopedia in monitor.sql and copy that old text to it. I did that only for help and strategy.

just booted up a game, and I have to say starting next to the Maya is a damn nightmare. Those Holkan get double move off jungle/forest and they are zipping around 6 moves on turn 2, stealing all your ruins. I don't know if it's unbalanced but it definitely is infuriating to watch the Holkans hoover every ruin. You can still see the ancient ruin +10 science through fog of war too, so it's an even bigger slap in the face
- The quote at the end of the Historical info for the Celtic Scythed Chariot is lacking guillemets/angle quotes.
angle quotes are used in XML syntax so that would be a pain in the ass. Why would I use angle quotes as opposed to "" quotes, and why specifically for scythed chariot's quote, as opposed to, say, the tersane quote?

There was a typo in the textUpdate.sql. Monitor, Pracinha (and hakkapeliitta and Carolean) text should work now. I think the current monitor civilopedia entry is okay. Not great, mind you, but okay. Aint broke; don't fix it.

Does the Hashemite seem a little too powerful?
  • available earlier
  • no strategic requirement
  • +7/+5 RCP/CP
  • double move and +25% in desert
  • no move to pillage and 10 dmg on pillage to every adjacent unit.
Like, I know cossack is strong, but at least it has a strategic requirement (which doesn't amount to much since Russia is drowning in horses)

That does seem a little powerful, yes. We can dial the CS/RCS back a little.
I’m feeling quite swamped with all the fixes that need to be made, and the switch to Github. Can we please use Github to track all the bugs that need fixing?

I think the worse culprit is the 25% in desert (but keep the double move), but yeah and even +5/+5 would probably be better

Why not give them horse requirement instead of aluminium. Why they are so strong. For me they should have normal cp/rcp or even lower than light tank but benefit from various other bonuses. You could the even leave the no resource requirement as it is. Its odd that horse unit is stronger than tank. Really.

Forgot to restrict that one particular popup.

Maya starts with bonus/jungle movement? It shouldn't.

Sure, so new Hashemite Raider:
available earlier
65RCP; 55 CP (same as light tank)
double move and 25% in desert
no cost to pillage and 10 damage on pillage
Requires horses

that could work

No but they level up 1.5x as fast, and trailblazer I is double move in forest/jungle, their start bias. What if they started with trailblazer I instead of base 3 move?

Sure, works for me. Put it up on Github and I'll get to it eventually. Sorry for the slowness.

  • Yeah trailblaizer could work.
  • Can you also move and rename new iron chariot dummy promotion from monitor to iron chariot? I was tired and mixed that in funny way.
  • Also you can copy popup restriction from one of Holkans ability to other Iforgot about. Remember there are for speed variants of it.

I reduced the RCP and CP for now, but left the no strategic requirement. I think we should let someone test it to see if that's enough

Replaced +1 move with trailblazer. changed the text accordingly

I moved the promotion to the Iron chariot section of the text, but did not alter any text or tags. I don't know what you did, so I don't feel comfortable doing anything but moving it around

I'll make a github issue for this

I also added the 15% gold during golden ages which was missing from the Riad. This was in the original UC proposal but was never implemented, and should give the building a 'wide' mechanic, to ensure it is useful in every city, even if there are no trade routes there.

All changes I have made are listed in the changelog.txt file at the top, to be integrated into a release number (24.XX) at some point in the future

Just number all of that stuff as v25 in changelog. No need to cut it to small pieces. Next updare will be almost 100% v25.

I added all issues on github. I also gave few notes to @Blue Ghost's pull request.

Change in sql and xml AMERICA to ASSYRIA for that promotion and cut it from Monitor to Iron Chariot. Remember about commas. It's common mistake even for me.

Oh, yes, that make sense. So, it is a dangerous move, you can lose a unit in a way. I understand the coast has the the same problem. Unless there is city to come back, you are stuck in a water as GA.

New beta on github.
