I want to try a pitboss Warlords game with both players and AIs in the game and I'd like to get it started as quickly as possible. So if you are fussy about maps/settings/leaders then this isn't the game for you. Or, if everybody but me is, then maybe it won't happen! :p

Large fractal map
8 civs, 4 human and 4 AI
(or 3 human and 6 AI if only two others are interested)

With settings:
random climate
random sea level
era: classical (to speed things up a bit)
and the rest default

Civs/leaders assigned randomly as follows:
I'll be Player 1
next to join is Player 2, etc.
Once we have a total of 4 (or 3 if no 4th appears), I'll start the game as above and let pitboss pick civs/leaders. I'll take the first one, etc.

Interested? Email civ4@geeberry.com

I'm already playing in your other game, recently started, so I think it's only fair to give others a chance. I remember how I battled to get games when I started.

However, if you do not have the requested 4 by the time you start, you can count me in as well.

Probably not, at least initially, for two reasons.

1) I'm not sure if it is possible to have the civstats uploader track two games on the same machine.

2) I want to determine whether civstats makes pitboss crashes more likely.

Hi ya

Is it ok to double turn. Just finnish My 1st turn and I must off been last to play it. Not a war at the mo or anything.

Cheers Holo:goodjob: :goodjob:

Sure. Once at war we should allow the other side a turn, but for now it just speeds up the game.

The uploader can track as many games at a time as you want. Just run another instance of the uploader and create a new profile. :)

Also, I can guarantee that the uploader does not cause the Pitboss application to crash. It's a "read only" system in that it reads the controls from the Pitboss admin windows and doesn't touch anything at all. In my 10 month PTBS game, it only crashed twice, and they were both from the known bug of sending a diplomatic message that was too long. Be sure your players know that they cannot type super long diplomatic messages in the game because it crashes the server.

It was just as easy as that. Thanks!

I'm not arguing with you here, as I do neither Windows nor python programming, but am just curious: Does either Pitboss or your app do any kind of locking of those values? What happens if your app is reading a value as Pitboss is changing it?

In my two less than a week old Pitboss games, both have frozen (the timer stops and no one can get it, but I can at least save the game so it isn't a total crash and burn) a few times. So there may be problems beyond the diplo messages. I've changed from Internet Game to Direct IP as I suspect it may be an issue with connectivity with the Gamespy lobby. We shall see.

Or it could have something to do with my running Pitboss inside a VMWare virtual machine running in Ubuntu.

But all in all, a big thanks to OverloadUT for creating CivStats!!!

Actually I did forget about the other problem that happened several times: If my home Internet connection ever drops completely, people can not log in to the server when the connection comes back up. I have to save the game and restart the server. That might be the same thing you have experienced - although my timer never stopped.

As for locking the values - it shouldn't, but I honestly couldn't say for sure. However, I have seen is scan the screen during the very short period in between the year advancing and the turn timer resetting - if it didn't cause problems then, I don't think it will.

But I've been known, on rare occasion, to be wrong before. ;)

I will be away for a break this weekend, so I will be missing 2 turns. However, I will leave enough things queued.

I am known as Firefox in my games.

Thanks.

My connection was done for a while, but there are six hours left so hopefully the two remaining players can get their turn in.

Hi all

Sorry about this but something has come up and have to go to Spain tomorrow, will be away for about 10 days. Is there anything I need to do.

Cheers Holo

PS Have a Happy New Year

There is no option to "kick" an AI, and I believe that the game was set up not to allow AIs to be taken over. I don't know of a way to get you back in, but if you find something I can try at the pitboss server end I'll be happy to give it a go.
