4 teams - Vanilla 1.74

My daughter was 7 last month and she will crush your kids' civs with her SoD :D

Seriously though, this game runs so incredibly slow, does anyone still have any genuine interest in it ?

Tim Ford put it best when he said that he would stick with this game until the bitter end (even if it lasted five years) based on the fact that it would be a huge accomplishment to complete a game with this many players and this large a scope. Tim Ford has since dropped out of the game :p, but I share his sentiment.

I'd still like to play the game, but I would like to see at least 2 or 3 turns per week. If we can't do that, I'll turn my civ over to my daughter now.

My daughter is 9, and I am already teaching her to play CIV. She like how all the animals move when I zoom in real close. Not sure how that will relate to playing skill later on....

I'm still interested. Seems the lagg is Klammi and/or MD. Except for the occasional GPS without the S by some people Dazz knows.:goodjob::rolleyes:

I can't speak for Klammi, but I know MD turns over his turns daily. He's extremely consistent in the other game I'm in with him. Anyhow - let's get this moving again! Is this still with Klammi?

The lag certainly seems to be Klammi.

Just as an example, Klammi, who doesn't normally post GPS's did post a GPS on the 5th Oct ... after I sent him the turn on the 25th Sept !!! Hence my post referring to 12 days for three people to play ...

It seems every time I send to Klammi, everything dies.

The fact he rarely posts GPS doesn't make it easy to diagnose any possible problems with him receiving the turns either.

Klammi, are you still interested in playing this game. I would love to have you stay on as my teammate. If, for some reason, you wish to drop out, I can work to find a replacement for you... It's your call.

By the way, I don't think we can pin all of the blame on Klammi. When he was out and I was playing both his and my turns, the play was still sliggish. We should be able to at least play a turn every 2 days.

It was moving reasonably well until the turn sent to me by Joe didn't arrive. As Joe (usually) sends GPS to the previous player rather than posting, I had no idea a turn was ever sent.

Further proof that, in a game of this many players, it is very important to post GPS on the site so we all have an idea where the turn is and, more importantly, if it has gone AWOL.

By the way, i'm not trying to pin all the blame on Klammi. With so many players, its fair to say most of us are only really aware of the turnaround time taken by our previous and next players in the chain. This is how I am of the opinion that Klammi isn't as fast to play as he possibly could be. There may well be others who are a bit sluggish too, myself included sometimes.

I just sent an e-mail to Klammi. Let's wait for his response. If he hasn't responded by the end of this week, please send his turn to me and I will play it until I can find a replacement for him.

I don't want this game to die and I haven't heard anyone else say that they did either. Let's replace anyone who's not fully committed and keep this game alive.

I'm ok with that although I must say giving Klammi until the end of the week is a bit much when he has already had the turn for 11 days.

By the way, when I returned to this game, playing both my original position and Tim's, I approached several players to replace Tim but there were no takers so, like me, you may end up playing both positions for the rest of the game. Just like 2 Civs ... the third installment :D

Sorry for the delay. Since I finished my studies and started working for a company I'm pretty stressed in RL. Will try to make the next turns faster than the last both and keep the game up and running. Once again, sorry! Please don't hasitate to blame me when this game comes down again, but I hope you won't need it ;)

I'm on holiday next week, back on Nov 2nd. Please send turns to Mitchum while I'm away.
