Hi everyone,

Im really looking forward to Beyond earth, as the last civilization game I played was civ 4, but I am concerned because my laptop is on the older side. Its an approximately four year old Vaio (VPCF121FD) with the following specs:

Operating System:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.140303-2144)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Sony Corporation
System Model: VPCF121FD
BIOS: BIOS Date: 09/23/09 11:58:43 Ver: 08.00.10
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 740 @ 1.73GHz (8 CPUs), ~1.7GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 4078MB RAM
Page File: 6584MB used, 2623MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

With the following graphics card:
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 310M
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 310M
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A75&SUBSYS_9067104D&REV_A2
Display Memory: 2249 MB
Dedicated Memory: 466 MB
Shared Memory: 1783 MB
Current Mode: 1600 x 900 (32 bit)

Now I have seen the posted specs for the game, but I admit to not really knowing the most experienced person with pc specs and I really dont know how my graphics card compares with the games demands. So I would be appreciative if anyone who is (smarter) than me, could tell me if the game is playable on my laptop or not. If not, is an external graphics card an option(I have an expresscard port on my laptop). Thanks

Here is the Firaxis site for system requirements.

In addition as a practical matter for those who have run Civ V in DirectX 11 mode, if it can do that successfully, it can also run BE. In early game, roughly similar lag time is expected. I am however seeing signs pointing to late game lag being more likely to be a problem than in late game Civ V BNW. (Appears to be many more trade route units allowed which will more than offset the reduction from stations not having units.)

I'd take that 'service' with a grain of salt. According to it my desktop is not good enough to play Civ:BE.

According to it my laptop is not good enough to play Civ V. Vanilla mode.

I'm not really a tech guru by any means, but our laptops are about the same age, your specs look pretty close to mine, and mine runs BNW using the onboard NVidia 330M with not too much trouble (not at full graphics settings, but high enough that the game looks decent enough). We might not get full graphical splendor, but the game will hopefully run. (And if not, we can have a pity party.)
