They are some resources which I use in my mods. Several of them are "traditional" resources with new graphics, but other resources are new ideas too. I think that they could be very useful in some mods like The Punic Wars, the XVII century, the Spanish Civil War, the Second World War or the Cold War.

I hope you like them. :)

I would like to se your work, but i cannot open this paticular file type, so is there any chance that you would post the pichture in the thread? :)

I guess that you don't know several of them, so I'll give you some information about them:

01 - Platinum. Platinum is probably best known for its use in jewelry, but platinum also serve as catalysts in chemical and petroleum refining processes. Platinum is frequently a component in equipment for the electronics and communications industries (satellites, .
In the Second World War Stalin sent 2.400 Kg of platinum, which was a strategic resource for the german war industry, to Hitler by virtue of the Treaty Molotov-Von Ribbentrop. It was a strategic resource during the Cold War too.

02 - Copper. Strategic resource for motors and chemical industries.

03 & 04 - Tin. Tin-plated steel containers are widely used for food. It is very important to the war logistic.

05 - Magnesium. It is used to produce incendiary bombs (It was like the napalm). Germany was the main producter, but after the Second World War, the production of magnesium was prohibited in Germany. It could be a good strategic resource for bombers (He-111, Do-17...)

06 - Nickel. It is necessary to produce stainless steel. It is a strategic resource for shipbuilding (in screws, for example) and for planes. An alloy of nickel was used to produce the Me-109. Germany had to buy large quantities of nickel from Petsamo (Finland).
The graphic could be chromium too, because it has a similar appearance and it is used in the same alloys.

07 - Titanium. High technology vehicles are built with titanium (wheels, for example). It was a strategic mineral during the Cold War.

08 - Cobalt. Another strategic mineral during the Cold War. Missils, nuclear reactors...

09 - Tungsten (wolfram in Europe). Tungsten is widely used in light bulbs, but it was necessary to produce the bullets of the Jagdpanzer, because it was harder than the molybdenum. Germany had to buy it from Spain and Portugal.

10 - Rice.

11 & 12 - Champagne in France, cava in Spain, Sekt in Germany... :crazyeye:

13 - Diamonds. It isn't a new resource. I've just modified it a bit.

14 - Bananas.

15 - Soja bean. In 1932 Japan invaded China and created a new state in the north of China called Manchukuo. The important fields of soja bean of this territory were very important for the japanese economy. When the Second World War began, Japan sent 1.000.000 Tn of soja bean to Germany throught Russia.

16 - Caviar. I love caviar, but I'm not rich. It's a pity!

17 & 18 - Barley. It is used in the production of beer :crazyeye: but I use it like a strategic resource in my medieval scenarios, because it was necessary to feed horses.

19 - Olive oil.

20 - Onions.

21 - Cork. It is very necessary in the wine industry.

22 - Tomatos.

23 - Lentils

24 - Hare. Do you like Albert Dürer?

25 & 26 - Almonds. It is a very important export product in Spain. I use it in my Spanish Civil War scenario.

27 - Sugar beet. It is used to produce sugar in France, Germany, Ukraine,Russia...

28 - Esparto. In the Ancient World it was used to build ships. The main source of esparto in the Mediterranean was Carthago Nova.

29 - Papyrus. Shipbuilding, food, libraries...

30 - Garum. It was a famous product in the Ancient World. It was a sauce made with rotten fish and a lot of salt. From our point of view it is disgusting, but Romans loved it. The main sources of garum were Byzantium, Malaka, Sexi, Cartagho Nova and above all Gadir (Cadiz).

31 - Lobster. Canada, E.U.A., United Kingdom, France and Ireland are the main producters.

32 - Caucho.

33 - Quinine. It was a strategic product in the Second World War because it was necessary to the war in the jungle. When Japan invaded Java, the main source of quinine in the world, the United States of America had to produce quinine in other countries, like Panama.

34 - Tourism. It is very importar nowadays.

35 - Wild boar.

36 - Bear.

37 - Peas. It was very important in the medieval ages in the zone of Paris.

38 - Oranges. On of the main export products in countries like Spain, Brazil or Israel.

39 - Cocoa.

40 - Wheat.

41 - Tulips. In Holland the bussiness with the tulips were very important in the XVII century. Merchant speculated with their price so they were a very expensive product.

Yes, varwnos, that's true :D

I love Thoman Mann. Death in Venice, The Budenbrook, and above all The Magic Mountain. When I read it I identified with Settembrini because I have the same way of thinking, and I have a friend who has the same way of thinking of Naphta. Aristoteles vs Plato, you know.

Obviusly, we argue a lot ;)

:D
I never read the entire book... I started reading it when i was 17,5 and got to read almost 3/4 of it (which as you know is a lot), but then made the decision to take a break, and during the break i started reading the brothers Karamazov. I read that second book, but never returned to the enchanted mountain :| If you rmemeber in the prologue Thomas Mann wrote that: "this book will not be read in 7 days, neither will it be read probably in 7 months. But with a little luck it will be read it less than 7 years!" :) But i am now 26, so it will take more than that...

Death in Venice is great :)

Hey, you got the shadows for these?

Tourism, for a naturally occuring scenic site like the Grand Canyon, rather than for a man-made Wonder . . . what a great idea!!

In an epic game, when do you think a Tourism resource should become available? My gut feeling is that it shouldn't be visible right from the start of the game, but that's only because I've never heard of ancient people spending money to travel to natural wonders and buy souveniers (and pay taxes on them). I could well be wrong about that, though.

I hope you don't mind, I have added the wheat and hare to my 336 resource collection (and given you credit). The wheat will be used in my epic 'X' mod. I was going to use the hare as well, but I had way too many resources already and had to pare it down to more essential ones.
