Oddly simple yet possibly very complex.

1 year = 1 Turn!

Obviously have this be an option:
Epoch= 1 Turn 1 Year
Marathon = 200% Slower
Epic = 100% Slower
Extended = 50% Slower
Standard = Standard
Quick = 25% Faster
Short = 50% Faster
Speed = 100% Faster

The thought process being that if you wanted to play the longest version it would better simulate the length of time Ancient wars took, think the Trojan War lasting a decade. The other end would require an adjustment to movement based on the era of the unit. Think a warrior should take 2 turns to travel a current tile, it would also be a cool add to have sub-tiles which would allow you to simulate this extended time of travel.

This would make more sense in terms of warfare. Instead of having wars drag out for over 10 millennia, we could have them finish in more reasonable amounts of time. :)

I think the Caveman to Cosmos mod has one turn for each year. Ten thousand turns, iirc

Maybe if I was in prison I'd play that.

That would be awesome, just think, having each century being its own game basically. I would think the tech tree would have to be fleshed out significantly, think early roman swordsman vs late roman phalanxes. Knights of the first crusade vs 3rd crusade.

I've always wanted something like this in civilization. I feel the games are too fast. (and I dont understand why marathon makes more years per turn then quick).
