Welcome to the 6otM St 110 Opening Actions thread.
STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed at least 80 to 100 turns in your game.
This thread is used to discuss the game once you've started playing through your first 100 turns. Apart from normal decency, the only posting restrictions are to please not post videos until the deadline is finished and to use the spoiler tags for screenshots. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. Please remember that we are running a family friendly site, so express anger or frustration with this in mind. :)
Please use this thread to discuss your goals for the game and your opening moves through the first 100 turns. Anything after that should be posted in the After Actions thread once you have completed your game.

My game had Barbarians and Corporations. And Barb Crossbowmen at turn 59, which was a bit of a shock!

Moderator Action: Moved to Opening Action thread because of the potential for spoilers. leif

I have played in 98 turns so I thought I would stop and post here. I think I'm making very hard work of it TBH.

- Where did you settle your city? One tile south. The creator decreed it.
- What did you research and which policies did you choose and why? - Mining, Animal Husbandry, Pottery, Writing, Bronze working etc. and for policies I just bee-lined Oligarchy and for pantheon I took God of the forge.
- What was your build order? Scout, settler, units until writing then campus and then a ram for Spain. I fitted a couple of monuments and granaries in when I couldn't afford the units. I haven't built a boat yet. I know this is bad.
- How soon did you build a District? Which ones did you prioritize? Campus early, but I build harbour and commercial hubs for cash a bit later. I still need lighthouses and markets.
- How did you place your districts? The creator decided where the districts would go - I imagine everyone put them in the same places.
- Did you bother with Religion?? - Nope
- How did you play your governance cards, priorities? Cheap units and cheap maintenance I added the great general point card a bit later - a general is handy.
- What City-States did you meet and which ones did you cultivate to your side? I'm not sure they are going to be relevant in my game.
- Were your neighbors peaceful? They loved me for a while. Not so much now.
- Any surprises? I thought the barbs were going to be an issue early - but I cleared a couple of camps and that was that. It was much more difficult to generate gold than usual I thought. Again, I think the creator did this on purpose.

I tried to take Spain and Gran Columbia at the same time as they lived in opposite directions. Not sure if that will work out. Spain is dead and I haven't decided if I'll kill Simon yet. I might keep him for trade routes and cash. I'm definitely short of money.
I need to get off my continent now so I need to finish shipbuilding. Also I will try to generate some gold for upgrades. So I'll build a market and a lighthouse at least.

I've posted some screenies. Obviously they are massive spoilers if you haven't uncovered half the map.
