Culture victory, Turn 350, Score 502
How many cities did you settle or capture?
Settled 6, Captured 0
What did you prioritize for research and policies?
First priority was masonry to harvest one of the stone resources for Stonehenge. The use of founding a religion was basically to accumulate more faith to be used for great people purchases, and unlock the ability to purchase Theatre district buildings with faith. After that I focused on making my way to Humanism and Computers for artists and tourism boosts.
Did you bother with Religion?
Yes. I selected beliefs that allowed the purchase of culture buildings with faith and also chose cathedrals so I had additional religious artwork slots.
Did you build your Culture, let others build and take theirs?
Built my own culture, divine spark pantheon, Oracle, etc.
Did you bother with Science
Only enough to try and keep up with those ahead of me in science enough to defend myself in the event of an attack. Fortunately, I was able to distance myself from threats by forming alliances with India, France, and Japan. This allowed me to somewhat neglect my military.
Were City-States helpful?
By the end i had enough envoys in the city states to gain full bonuses. I was heavily invested in Geneva but couldn't protect them from the invasion of Kongo. I lost 15 of my committed envoys in that unfortunate event.
Any surprises you ran into, how did you deal with it?
India had me changing my course as they settled too close to where i wanted to expand. I also unfortunately lost Broadway with one turn to go but I had built up enough culture that it wasn't really necessary.
Did you enjoy the game?
This was my first GotM after hours upon hours of Civ dating back to Civ II. I don't know why I never thought to check this out. I had a great time. Thanks to those who set this up.
