Welcome to the 6otM201 After Actions Report (AAR) thread.

STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed and submitted your game.

In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss turn/date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Please attach your victory save to your post. Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Please use spoiler tags for any surprise details you'd like kept hidden. Thank you.

If this is a replay, please indicate 'REPLAY' at the top of your post. If you conduct regular restarts, please indicate 'RELOADS' at the top of your post. More posting helps us all get play better as we understand the methods of others, but want to clearly distinguish between a first run through without reloads and other submissions as it is much harder to recover in game from the mistakes we all make.

Some questions to consider answering.
- Are there any specific settings you would like to see in future 6otM (difficulty, civ/leader, victory type, game modes, map type, game speed and so on)?
- What was your general game plan?
- What was your starting build order?
- What was your biggest surprise in this game?
- Did you enjoy the settings of this map?

CV T276 - REPLAYED
I already tried it one week ago and failed. Now I gave it another try. It was really close, a few more turns and Inca would have won a science victory.
I had a rather slow start but was able to sneak two Swedish cities in the war between Columbia and Sweden. Once Sweden was out I took two cities of Columbia.
At this time Inca was already a powerhouse... As I was lacking science in comparison to them I hoped I could win it without a war.
It was possible - but it was very close. I used a lot of rock bands I'm sure they gave me the boost I needed to win it.

CV T135 (Game creator knowledge)

Initial build order capital: scout, builder, settler, monument -> Realized 2 of the sides of my capital was cut off by water and natural wonder and there were 2 wonder tiles that could be improved with a builder. I switched the normal scout, scout, settler settler opening this game. I also realized I had very strong production and rather low food and Culture so I put in a monument Before the second settler as well.
Build order expansions: I almost always start with a monument in my initial expansions (or buy one) unless I have very strong Culture from other source and afterwards usually a district but it depends.

I found Sweden and Gran Colombian early and they had a rather early war. Gran Colombian donated 2 settlers and a 1 worker early and they captured 2 of Swedens cities but exhausted almost all their army so I captured those 2 cities for myself. I had a very strong start but the persian +2 movement from surprise wars is an extremely strong ability. I declared surprise wars most of the game and made extensive use of pillaging and joint wars.

My strategy for winning was initially flight+monopoly tourism combined with pairidazae+cityparks and theater Squares. However, I managed to find La Venta on the edge of the map (likely spawned from a barbarian camp) and with that my strategy changed to the La Venta improvevement+flight and then I focused on gaining as much monopoly bonus as possible as well as keeping the AI alive.

In the end, I had a bonus of 555% tourism from monopolies (as can be seen in the screenshot).
I Think this is one of the most fun games I played in a long time. I really like the monopoly mode thanks to that it shortens "the end game drag" significantly and speeds up the victory once it has been established that I am already winning. It also adds Another element of strategy to the game and I also like games that are not domination were a warring strategy is viable, where I need to balance warmongering and building my cities, as well as outsmart the opposing AI in warfare.

P.S As a game creator I have some more knowledge than doing the playthrough blindly as I need to perform some early scouting and I know what game plan I have in mind when creating the map.

The map/arrangement was an awesome set up. Really challenged your knowledge of the game mechanics.

Took a long time for the game to snowball due to low yields tiles in easy access expansion areas coupled with a UI that couldn’t be applied in those areas.

Contemplated going religion to try and get reliquaries, but with 14 other civs it was always going to be tough. So I ignored religion altogether. Took earth goddess as the pantheon as I was planning on building National Parks.

Basic strategy was War -> Befriend all Civs -> Build National Parks via Laing City Park Improvement -> Secure Monopolies -> Finish off victory via Rock Bands.

Acquiring cities from nearby civs in classical era using Immortals and UA was pretty straight forward. I also raised a nearby CS so I could have a city to build Golden Gate Bridge (unfortunately game ended 2 turns before that was built).

Monopolies were not favourable in this game. Without the early game wars, I think the peaceful route would have been very challenging, possibly adding another 50+ turns.

Thanks for the game, really enjoyed the set up and challenge.

Hi,

I also played this game, I liked it a lot, but I stopped at turn 278. I found out that playing on the ipad, the upgrades from the Rock Bands aren't the same as on pc. For me this implied that many rock bands were killed and that I cannot choose all their promotions (like the strong promotions). I have CIV 6 on PC and the whole on IPAD (Aspyr).

In the future I will have to play pc instead of ipad, because the game is different. Did you guys know?
